200Tdi or a 300 if you are feeling a bit more wealthy.They take some beating,had a few debates over the years on this and I still think they are the best overall package - in a LR.ere eight, what engine would you put in a landy????

Right hello again. don't think ive ever had so many replies to one post in that space of time! some useful, some not so much . so wats the conclusion, the daihatsu 2.8td?? will that sit straight in?? and are they expensive?? Cheers for the help so far! and happy christmas

i thought the conclusion was the 200 tdi, there werent much said about the daihatsu

ormus, your so right that some motors just dont do it for a landy, the perkins prev fitted was good for 50mph with overdrive but would eat gearbox's. 2.8 daihatsu does 80mph and prob'y more. too scared to try.
yella the 90 is slow and should have had the 2.8 but all my towing and driving is done in the series 1.

aye, i bet its slow, like i said my rangie was a disaster, i reckon the transit engine is just a miss match fer a landy gearbox, i bet that series 1 with the daihatsu in it goes like stink
