I thought it became clear unill now which are the standard dimensions(shown in that table i posted from the workshop manual) ... anyway, my vote is 3 for your latest conditions
Because i've had them both on my vehicle and IMO the ride on 255/65 was betterMind if I ask what you'd say if someone asked why you'd choose 255/65 over 235/70?
A 255-65 x 16 has a lower profile than a 235-70 x 16, but not a smaller overall diameter.......
Hull me, so slighly different East Coast accent to thine. "Bah gum lad, frame and stop worritin baht thi tyres!"Thanks. Yes that's a very good point and one I am pretty wary of (live and learn). Trouble is I am not 100% clear on which tyres you'd call "larger". I assume you're only talking about what people refer to as 'over size', i.e. bigger than LR specs? In which case I should be a legal beaver with 235/70/16 or various others mentioned so long as they are on the correct wheel width (7J or 8J). The funniest thing of all is my 04 Disco2 did (I am pretty sure) come with the 18" wheels as standard. But I wonder what the insurance database would say about that, or VOSA etc, as if you go on Camskill and enter my reg, it doesn't offer any 18" tyres cos it thinks my vehicle should have 16" tyres, hence 16" wheels. Interesting stuff, but yes, good advice thanks. I don't intend to give those slimey snakebelly insurance types a single friggin whisker to dodge a claim, I work for me, not them
Ha, aye lad. Hornsea/Withernsea originally.
There you go again making me look like a mucking foron. Leave that to me, I don't need any extra help
Mine drives better if I drive it after a golden shower, if that's anything to go by.
if "profile" means size of sidewall, then that's false, is it not?
Just looked at the goodyear eu website, they don't do anything below 18" in that size, General do though, seeThanks. DAMN. I just had an email from Camskill saying BFG don't do an AT in 255/55/16. FFS! That surprises me, given how popular (and standard) that size is for discos
No longer availableSurprised because my friend runs grabber ATs in 255/65/16, so WTF!
BFGs or GGs are not the choice IMO, these are mainly off-road tyres, for your conditions i'd recommend Goodyear Wrangler HP AW 255/65 R16(for mainly road, wanting comfort and gentle ride with a bit of bumpy stuff now and then).
That is a 27" wheel, far too small and not at all standard for D2s which take a 29" as standard. 245/70/16 is commonly available and only fractionally taller than standard, the circumference is less than 2% larger and you will not notice the difference.Thanks. DAMN. I just had an email from Camskill saying BFG don't do an AT in 255/55/16. FFS! That surprises me, given how popular (and standard) that size is for discos
