What's your thoughts, I've got a TD5, in good condition to be fair on an x plate, 123.000 on the clock. I've not had it so long, it's had a few teething problems but to be fair the dealer has helped me out sorting them. The body work is in ok condition but with a bottom half respray it would look mint, my question is, "is it worth doing to prolong the value and maybe increase its value, if and when I come to sell it."

If your thinking about getting it painted do it because you want to, Not to try and increase the value. Not so sure you would see the money back out of it as a respray is a dear do.

Yeah I've had several quotes, it's not cheap. To be fair if I can get all my teething problems out if the way, I'm keen to get it blown over. Even if it's just to prolong its life.

Defender or Discovery?

It won't have any effect on the life of a defender, they don't care about paintwork much. Smarter vehicles always sell easier though of course, whichever it is.

:D

Your landy at the end of the day though so if you'd enjoy it more if it was all shiny again, its your money.

I'd imagine a resprayed Landie will only get a couple of hundred more in resale if the rest is as good underneath.

Is it a Defender or Disco? A respray on a Defender will do very little if anything to prolong it's life. A Disco maybe as it can rust if the paint is bad enough.

Poor paintwork will probably hurt the resale of a Disco much more than a Defender too.

My 110 has a few small dents on a wing, doors and and plenty scratches along the side of it from laning and I plan on giving the sides a re-spray when I rebuild the doors but I'm definitely not doing it just for increasing it's value.

I just want it to look a little better for the odd time I have it clean :p
I can spray myself and can get the use of a friends booth to spray the panels when they are off too so that helps alot. Not sure if I'd do it if I had to pay somebody to do it for me.

it is a lot tougher than paint.so can cope with everyday stuff easily.

Gems, the wife works at a place that does vinyl wrapping amongst other things and its down to the type of vinyl you want, they do thick stuff that protects And thin stuff that looks good and is easily printable, but either way it has limited lifespan, paint really is more durable on the long run.

As I said mate they do all sorts of vinyl but the strong stuff isn't that attractive, would work well on a landy though as its all flatish surfaces but on other types of vehicles out can be a bitch to get it to form right. The strong stuff is mainly used on trucks and trailers here.

when i saw them doing a wrap it was on a discovery2.looked great to me.but tis up to the individual really i suppose.:)

Thought about a wrap but thought it would be mega buck. It's only the drivers door and rear door that has started to bubble that lets it down and it's just starting to go on two arches, might just get them rubbed down and blown over to start wi and see how I get on.
