That pub has had half a dozen names since then.
Knaphill is full of hair dressers, take aways, and pubs these days.
Nothing useful if like me you dont drink (much), are bald, and dont eat ****e food - lol.
Other than that its not too bad a place to live. My local is the Royal Oak at the bottom of the hill.

The Royal Oak does nice food, or it did, been a few years since I been there now. I once crashed a car on that corner lol

Coming off one motorway onto another, downshift from 4th to 3rd and SNAP off comes the gearstick - in neutral.

Coasted to the side off the tarmac and working through the oil-fill port (rev. A gearbox) with a couple of screwdrivers wheedled the gearbox into second. Between second and second overdrive I drove it the 20-odd miles home on the back roads as it was more than happy from start to 30ish.

Later examination showed the gearstick had been tack-welded (very poorly, in place in the truck!) and ground to conceal, then painted...I never noticed.

Next one to that was on the motorway, middle lane, 110 Diesel dropping out completely. it restarted, and easing it off to the side turned out the wire to the fuel solenoid had been bodged (by another idiot previous owner _ i do seem to find 'em).

New spade lug and a minute with the crimper and off she went.

Snapped the rear trailing arm, whilst off roading in Devon a few years ago. Recovery would touch us as we were at an off road site.

Reattached with cable ties and rope.

Drove the 20miles to Devon 4x4 to weld a new bracket on.
