whats the name of the part i need whilst doing inlet manifold gaskets today i noticed that there was a crack in the piece of alloy that holds the Belt Tensioner (section 12 page 9 of rave ) at the top of the engine also on the black pipe that says intercooler over the top of the engine theres a black circular breather type thing that plugs onto the intercooler black pipe on the left hand side near the battery that doesnt seat in the hole properly is there a seal or summit that i need for this sorry for the vague descriptions just havent got a clue what they are called

If the crack is in the top mounting bracket then it is STC4182. If it is in the eccentric arm it is STC4608. Breather depends on whether engine has EGR or not what year is car.

If you have the early type pre egr then you have a breather if needed is stc2806 no14 in pic but I'm not sure if it comes with hoses the later type egr is of a hose only ESR4566 no20 in pic its a misleading pic becuase the early type has a oil breather inbetween valve cover and air intake tube no14 the later egr type has a hose only no 20 in pic . The oil breather is very expensive

thats the one mate it doesnt sit in the hole right

If he has £112.63 to spare from Rimmers. But think he may need STC2807. The grommet that it goes into to fill the gap up at a more realistic but still ridiculous £8.28. :):)

Wammers can he not convert to the later type is seems strange that the later type has nowhere for the excess oil to go mine gets sucked and pushed out by the turbo I would assume the old breathers that were fitted collected oil until full and cleaned ?

The new and old systems work on different principals. The old system vented when pressure rose. The newer one maintains a partial vacuum in the crank case. To change to the new system he would need to change the cam cover. And the little breather pipe is seriously daft money for what it is. £60.00 ish i think. Better with the grommet they must be ten a penny at the scrap yards.

Measure the size you need and contact someone like these people with what you need have you tried ajusting hoses so it sits better.

What he needs is a sleeve grommet with a raised boss not an O'Ring. Any piece of rubber pipe that goes over the oil separator boss tightly so as not to get sucked in and fits into the ducting fairly snugly would do as a make do and mend.
