Whats the difference between green laning and off roading??

Hi Everyone!

I'm a newbie so please forgive my utter lack of knowledge in the land rover department. No doubt my boyf will hold his head in his hands in shame for me asking stupid girl-like questions .

We're up in North Wales and he's just bought an old disco to go playing in (Hurrah!). I've been trying to find pay and play(?) sites, and also freebie ones on tinternet but not having much luck . Am also getting lost on the difference between offroading and green laning !

So please, could someone explain, and does anyone know where he can go play near us? (We're in Colwyn Bay) Bala is only about 45mins away from us so do-able and i think there's one up there somewhere. Or does anyone know any sites that advertise places to go?

green laning is basically drivin on unsurfaced roads,tracks,etc....offroading is goin where there aint nuthin but ruff stuff, no road, no track....just go where ya wanna, if ya can

Ah ha...i see. Do you know of any good sites to find locations to go offroading then?

int tha a rather long way to go frum yarksheer?

loads of greenlanes in north wales. just look at your local os map for red tracks marked -+-+-+-+-+- their all legal unless a sign says so. dont go ****ing around on them though or making new tracks. the ramblers get ****ed and the lanes get closed, then i get mad.

offroading is basically on private land, where you have to pay (pay and play) to tear the crap outta the place. good place to start as there are plenty of people to pull you out when you get stuck... cos you WILL get stuck

also a good place to test the limits of your motor.

Green laneing does less damage in my experiance, last pay and play day did a LOT of damage

Wheel bearings, lights, torsion bar bushes, rear antiroll bar, wet carpets
Erm.... lots of welding that i found when i took carpets out

and once seperated, the men are put aboard large ocean going vessels and taken far away from the boys and small one cell life forms

hi what is the biggest tyre with steel wheels u can get to get 2 inch lift effect without actually putting 2 inch lift dampers and strings mine is standard and got the stadard alloys with 230 70 16 I think off my head. cheers

You have to go a long way to give the Welsh a bad name, but I think you've just done it.

i looked at it but i thought it best ignored. seen as it is from taffy, i assume hes from the south as that is what them is all called down there, plus it would explain a lot

defender? disco? wrangler? land cruiser? fiesta? write a clear description ffs.

90/110 prob 265/75 without pushing the boat out. not sure if this would raise by 2", but you wouldnt want to go any bigger without lift.

Actually not as stupid a question as I thought going from 235/70/16 (28.9") to 285/75/16 (33") Is a 4" increase in tyre diametre and therefore gives a 2" lift.

i would love ter see a 285/75/16 at 33 inches, seen as my 235/85/16 is only just 33 inches
