I go to A1 motorstores and just buy the blade refils. Cost less than a fiver and usually last 2-3 years

Really makes no odds on a Defender, they're about 8 inches long, and hardly go at warp speed. Guess you drive somthin' gert posh like.

I put flat blades on the 110 and they are great, no streaks

On my 110 I got a set of 3 Bosch blades off flea-bay £13ish delivered, and they've been sound so far.

Only ever used Bosch wipers. Never had any problems.
And as a rule of thumb it is recommended that wipers are changed every 6-8 monthsin heavy use. Never put wipers on if screen isfrozen. fastest way to kill them.

fastest way to have to buy a new wiper motor and mechanism too.

dont they? I know of some that have flown off the wiper arm at 70 on the M3 - that made the owner change underpants pretty quick, I tell ya
