got the normal t box we towed a 8 tone horse box with siezed brakes for 3 miles couldnt get outa first but she wernt struggling and it as i high box
When ye say 'normal' t box, how do ye mean?
It's just that the 'normal' one ah had in the bus (1991 J reg) turned out to be an LT230R. When ah come to change the boxes over, the t box turned out to be an LT230T later type.... All ah can say is 'What a difference'!! Ah almost forget to change into 5th gear goin' by sound!!!!

Love my gmc 6.5 turbo, for shear brute force, and like 300 tdi's as they are more refined than 200 tdi's

What 2.8 based on the tdi? There was a 2.8 petrol beemer engine for a while... demand wasn't high ;)

the International HS 2.8L TGV

baised on the Tdi made in india

think the LRO disco has one inplanted in it proper engine more power more touque

Like has been said, it depends what for. For posing about on the road or if you've the money to use garages to buy new electronic bits then I guess the bigger and newer engines are better - for ease of repair when breaking down in the middle of nowhere then the simpler older diesels with minimal electrics (my mates Disco managed to disable the engine AND lock him out when the alarm chip fried itself.. another reason I like older vehicles without fancy electronics). I remember my old 2.25 diesel harness went on fire (original cloth covered wiring). I switched all the electrics off and drove home! Even my 1984 model won't do that- so if I'd been in the middle of a forest (quite a regular thing for me), I'd have preffered that old underpowered thing to even the quickest most poweful engine in those circumstances. If all is always going to work and not break down then 300TDI ... but when the sh** hits the fan give me as simple an engine as possible.

my friend has a perkins diesel in his series 2a 109.
think its near 4 litres and was taken from a massey ferguson tractor.
has a rediculous amount of torque, and is so damned noisy, and un surprisingly it sounds like a tractor :)
