Underbonnet fires are very common in TD5's! Trust me i work on them everyday.
Hydraulocked me disco's 300tdi. this year (first week I had it) **** me self.. removed glow plugs cranked it over to remove water (3 times) It started on the 4th attempt and never bent anything..

Just as I thought every1 has a different vote from what iv heard and been told the defender 200tdi is bullet proof but we will see.
Other.... Snatch 3.5 V8. Far superior to that rover rubbish!

Dont know if it's been mentioned but the best ever was only released in Oz The 3.9L isuzu diesel was specified for the army landies and was also sold to the general Aussie pop from around 81-90 with the effect that virtually no 2.5 LR diesels where sold here for almost a decade only 3.9 diesel and the 3.5 v8 county.
I personally own a td5 defender 110 but would have loved to have the spare money to buy a 3.9isuzu county with a turbo. But they are very rare as once a persons got one they almost never let them go.
