Quick update - i'm ignoring the T/C issue and it's getting no worse (so presumably ignoring it is the best course of action!! ??)
So went and had Alive Tuning do the remap for me - via local agent, Rowan at RDT Tuning (in case anyone in South West wants the details just check look him up on Facebook) - transformation is amazing! It's a bit early to be certain on fuel but doesn't seem to be using any more (apart from me having the urge to put my foot down harder!!). Performance is now incredible, I can't understand why LR didn't produce them mapped like this. It's pulls away from junctions like a sales rep., it overtakes on the motorway (3rd lane up hill and accelerating from 70 to, errr, 70 officer, honest, I only did 70 at most, really I did!
Had a few BMW drivers looking worried when I pulled out and passed them.
OK, so it's a Disco, it's still got the aerodynamics of a garden shed, but now it's like the road-going equivalent of a 747 jet - it just isn't logical that something that fat and heavy should be able to accelerate and travel at that sort of speed. Not tried spinning the wheels (don't see the point in wasting the rubber) but if that's your thing then i'm sure it would.
Also, just picked up a straight through centre pipe which i'm hoping to get done this weekend (not its got power it needs to sound like its got power - err and something technical about more free-flowing exhaust allowing for faster turbo spooling and less lag therefore better ecconomy, or something like that - well, that's the excuse I used with the missus!!).
Gonna let the bank balance recover then will have to look at intercoolers
Anyway, if anyone is considering a remap, I can whole-heartedly recommend Alive Tuning (and Rowan at RDT if you're in this part of the country). It's slightly more expensive then Dynachip (Alive charged £250+VAT, whereas Dynachip quoted £250 all in), but seemed better for me as local agent, so if anything needs tweaking, fixing or adjusting it's quick and easy. Though, unless I go making any significant changes, don't think i'm going to need any more work.
And, before you ask, NO I don't get any commission or price reductions - just wanted to give an honest review!!!
