What's missing?

Hi all

I was having a look around under my disco 300tdi and discovered that there is something missing near the gear box? I'm no mechanic so here's a picture, there's a lot of oil around the area is it gear box oil?

Thanks I know it's abit vague

Before I make myself look a bigger knob, after a bit of research I have found out that nothing is missing and it's a wader hole!! So now I just have to find the real oil leak

That's why the hole is in the bell housing. to indicate that a seal is leaking and allowing the oil to flow out. Plug the hole only when u go wading to stop the ingress of water, u will also find one at the bottom of you timing cover ... or there a bouts .. as I don't have them..
