what will fit in a 90?

the oppertunity of a 90 on a 1989 f plate has come my way but its minus its engine(2.5td)
can anyone recommend other engines that will fit prefferably straight on to the original gearbox(short bellhousing type?)
not to bothered about changing engine mountings and dont do loads of miles so considering almost any option

many thanks, have time on my side for getting an engine as some body work, a small hole in the chassis and general tidying need sorting. if i fit a lump i will only MOT and run into the ground like my series 1,s.
