I'm looking at fitting a slightly smaller steering wheel to my Series 3 so I can change direction quicker and get my arms like pop eyes. Does anybody know of a steering wheel thats cheap and easy to get that fits straight on?

we've got one 1" smaller diameter on ours I think its a mountney, dad loves it and thinks its great, I think its bloomin awful, much much harder to turn, and off road its a nightmare, on road it is ok, but not as good as the original in my opinion, I don't think it was very expensive, I think craddocks sell them, and its got to have a boss adaptor to make it fit

Do not buy a Mountney, they are seriously ****. I had one the metal was so soft the spokes kept folding up, Mountney replaced it free of charge and that folded up too. I bought a new 10 year old Mountney wheel from a classic car shop, they'd had it in stock for years. it's decent quality metal, very strong. Get an old one if you can.

How do you find it for off road driving Spyderman? My Landy is purely for off roading, the only road driving it does is on the way to the mountains :p I find the standard wheel so big that I regularly smash my arm in to the door...

The standard wheel is 17", I originally bought the Mountney at 15" and it was fine apart from being **** quality, the 10 year old Mountney I've got now is 14", which is still fine both on and off road, as long as you're moving. Turning the wheel off road if stationary is bloody hard work, mind you it was with the standard wheel.

I've got 1960's style Cobra bucket seats in mine, the smaller wheel gives a lot more room and I don't bang my elbow on the door nearly as much as I did with the original wheel.

Don't forget to get the Boss kit too. I also replaced the supplied nuts and bolts for stainless allen key jobs.

Morris Marina/Ital ones fit straight on (but your probably find it hard to find now) as the splines are exactly the same I had one of those on my first short wheel base, the only other thing I can think of is one from a Austin Metro (More likely to find one of these) again exactly the same splines, I fitted one of these to one of my series 3 safaris.

Hope this is of some help.
