What MPG do you get from your Flander

TD4 auto - 27 local, 34 max on recent run (Sheffield to Glasgow) - about 430 on tank. Once got 35 MPG on a run to London. Improves slightly in warmer weather.

I also use Millers 4 every tank.

It runs great so not sure if any probs - wondered about changing MAF but if aint broke...

Higher fuel prices always seem to make it "seem" worse.

Now my 18 tonne Iveco - thats thirsty

Doing a lot of miles at the moment - heres latest :

Run down tank and brimmed it - 397 miles mixed longer run and local (about 50/50) - 58 litres (12.8 gal) = 31 MPG. 32.7 is the official combined for an auto so not bad for a 8 year old, 86K. This is also using Millers 4 each tank.

I'm running 225/55/17 which I think might make a diff, what I never get is close to the official extra urban which is 39 no matter how I drive on the motorway.

Fuel consumption (urban)25.2 mpgFuel consumption (extra urban)39.6 mpgFuel consumption (combined)32.8 mpg

Hi mpg I have 2001 1.8 petrol 55,ooo miles drove down to turkey55-60mph returns 38mpg motorways and 30mpg normal use all day crap roads and petrol here is £7-50 a gallon, we are changing to lpg just under £1-00 gal. fitting cost £400, we had a ldv2.5 maxus van that did 49mpg so you need some one to look at the fuel side of it filters etc, tyres ,kamyon sofor sunbathing in 36deg Turkey, [email protected]

Over the last tank Ive been getting 39.2 out of a 2003 TD4 Freelander with 102k miles on the clock.

Driving style would be brisk but consistent. I try to accelerate gently and look ahead to minimise braking. Driving includes all road types including city, rural and motorway miles.

The car is not modified with any tuning box although last week I undertook some maintenance of cleaning out the manifold and EGR valve as well as fitting the new PCV. Before the work I was getting around 33mpg. I also have the Vacuum line to the EGR removed. Original EGR valve still fitted though, not the bypass.

2002 TD4 GS Auto, Avon Ranger AT 15" tyres. All standard, just serviced as LandRover asked and 133K later...

I get 36MPG most days which is an ideal blend of town, then motorway, then country roads for 25 miles each way to work.
Most ever was 39MPG from a tank which is standard Shell Diesel just over 500 miles from a tank, i am trying Shell V-Power this week (£5 a tank more!) to see if it makes any difference - so far, None.

When I drive half of the time as shows in the picture I have an incredible mpg with my MY01 automatic......(Click on the picture to see the real advantage I'm talking about....)

On a recent journey into the North (170 miles each way on A Roads/Motorways - mostly around 60mph) and a bit of local driving..My Freelander achieved a mammoth 43mpg..

..and that's with the back of the car vibrating like Silvio Berlusconi's headboard during an all girls house party!

Ok lets tie up this thread i posted o so long ago, just done my first long trip since doing all the things recomended by you helpful people and got 32.6MPG, big improvment from the 27 i was getting so many thanks. Went to the Higgins Rally school in Carno mid wales, what a fantastic day, you have to do it!!!! Just for the flat out trip around the forest with David Higgins (British Rally Champion) at the end of the day! That boy can drive!!!

On my last tankfull i got 350 miles  not good.

I've now changed both intercooler hoses cleanged egr valve again (yet to ordrer a bypass kit). Have a pierburgh maf and synergy 2 to fit tomorrow. Then i'll brim it and see what happens.

Anything else i can do or that could be wrong?

Which is the better the black or stainless steel egr bypass kit?

I did the opposite...went "dawn sarf" 200 miles each way, motorway all the way, plus 70 (ish) miles local driving when there.
Drove motorway at 60mph......and achieved 45 mpg.:)
