I have a magic wand, & if my palm is crossed with rustling silver I can perform magic.

Exactly so. When I was repairing Volvo instrument panels, I always re-set the mileage to zero and engraved the recorded mileage on the back of the binnacle then noted the mileage on the invoice.I'm far to honest & geniune to perform anything sinister.
However, I can perform magic when your Range Rover or Discovery inherits a few more miles through binnacle swaps, body controller swaps etc.
There's nothing illegal in resetting the mileage, it's illegal if you sell a vehicle knowing the mileage is incorrect.
