"sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can reveal stuff you'd missed.", absolutely agree. A few years back I took a car for an MOT, I'd checked everything, or so I thought. Tester called me over - drop arm nut was finger tight!
 
new steering guard new panel of 12 switches 2 lighting units and light bar and usb sockets and a new set of independent hazard flashers all fitted next will be a new stereo and a stainless steel exhaust
 
Engine oil and filter change, oil pump out ans totally cleaned, new oil pressure switch and cabling back to dash warning light. New number plates, diff lock switch - much cursing! How on earth are you supposed to tighten the locknut?
Days out trying to track down the dash end of the heater control cable - got it now thanks to @200sx and @Flossie.
Troubleshooting oil pressure warning light not working- looks like dodgy PCB on the lamp cluster will need replacing.
Carb off to improve throttle return stop. Improved but not fixed as the throttle still doesn't fully close. Could do with a stronger spring perhaps?
Ran out of light so heater cable and dash warning cluster left for another day. Then dash back in and ready for MOT.
 
Just fitted my early Christmas present, my full size, hi-flow intercooler from Bell Autos.
With the re-map I had 5 years ago, it's always slightly overfueled on hard acceleration under load, now no smoke, it pulls so much better from really low and feels much more 'free' somehow! Excellent quality part too, very impressed!

Fitted some new pipes too, although my originals were in good condition, I thought I may as well! Very very happy! :)

Realised how much I need to clean up the diagonal brace bars, had to space them out from the chassis lugs and bend them slighty at the top to be able to fit around the deeper intercooler, unbelievably happy with how she drives now!!

Looks impressive. Should get the 0 to 60 time under a minute. Well at least a bit nearer to it. ;)
 
I see a lot of good work here by many, inspiring.

on my defender I cleaned the sensors in the engine bay, the intake manifold one was disgusting... (shamefully admitting it was it's first cleaning in many many many years)
not sure if it was a placebo effect but I think like I could feel it after, smoother ride...

finished the boxes I put in the defender which can double as a bed/storage for future travels.
what you guys think? weirdly enough I see everybody making drawers and more complicated stuff, no one going for the simple way?
originally this idea came about because I use my car for work so this does not compromise the versatility as much as a more dedicated camperized setup.
tested it off road yesterday for a couple of hours, nothing rattles or moves with all the gear inside of them.
I now noticed though my back door is shaking and squeezing because nothing else was there to rattle and be annoying.

next on the list is making a good water setup. I'm thinking simple, just strapping some plastic jerrycans on the inside above the rear wheel arches. with a garden hose to rinse stuff when needed.

@HugoB use the clear 25ltr water barrels you can see how much water you have & if you need to wash them out.
Also easier to fill at a petrol station from their outside taps ;)

nice boxes though

Who took those photos, you have made the back of that Defenderer look hoog. Are you an estate agent?

How have you managed to do away with the bulkhead behind the seats? I've seen some folks use a bar/mini A frame idea
