easiest way to fix a virus'd hdd is to fit it as a second drive on another machine and then scan it. that way yu arent starting windows on the suspect drive.
The virus is gone, however every time i connect to a network it says "Limited or no connectivity", It won't renew the ip address, and if i manually put in the details of the router it connects ok but the internet does not work....
is the router set to DHCP ?
does the link light on the router go out when you unplug the network cable ?
Router is set to DHCP, If i unplug the network cable the internet light goes out...
I am using the same network on this computer and it is working fine...
Yes it is...
and you can ping the gateway and get a response ? Request Times out
and IE is set to use network connection ? Don't use IE, And i can't find it in the options?
what do you get when you open a browser window ?Page load error (Firefox)
what do you get when you ping an external address such as landyzone.co.uk ? Request timed out
do a search for your host file - it should look something like this
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
