Why you shouldn't buy a Jeep.
Fitted brand new MT Kumho tyres and steel wheels (and with locking wheelnuts)
Took back cover off the transfer box to try and find the source of the clunk. By the looks of things its going to be a gearbox and transfer box out job. Need to source a decent second hand set of boxes.
which vehicle ,if defender boxes dont scrap them
Defender, 1992. Plan to find a second hand set, give them the once over and sort any problems then take a few days off work and take current ones out and fit new ones.
Splines on that main shaft are all worn and there appears to be quite abit of play between that cog that you can remove after you've removed the pto cover and the other gears, as well as the wear on the splines.
still dont scrap old boxes some one can rebuild them at some other time defender boxes arent that commonDefender, 1992. Plan to find a second hand set, give them the once over and sort any problems then take a few days off work and take current ones out and fit new ones.
