had a drive around with a mechanic listening to my strange noise, he got out the car and scratched his head.

Did find a work UJ with a bit of play in it but it wouldn't have caused the noise we heard. Although it is coming from the driver side of the gearbox/transfer box area.
 
Nipped up her front O/S wheel bearings and I think I've got a warped disc ... Oh joy!!!

Never mind, I have a replacement disc when I can get at it, as it is currently inside a container in a local dockyard, and it's an extra 5 miles through Port Security to go and get it! :(:(
 
It isn't the distance, it's the buggeration factor of having to ring up in advance to get a pass, go along to our HQ and get the keys, then go back to Security and await an escort through the working part of the harbour, then spend almost two minutes inside the container, and then do the whole lot again in reverse!

It takes about half a day to retrieve anything! :eek:
 
Mine just died on me. Got a 200tdi from a disco and it just went dead.

Anyone have any ideas? Fuel alway to the pumo I think, power to the pump. When I turn it over thete doest seem to be much resistance in the engine. Possibly timeing belt?

With it out of gear :rolleyes: , take oil filler cap off and turn engine by hand or have a mate spin it on the starter. See if the rockers are moving as you would expect, then you know if your belt is intact.
 
I shall have to call a friend out and have a looky see. Bit of a pain when I have work in a few hours haha.
 
I've had a look to see why my rear window washer wasn't working. It looks like a big job to access the pump as it is hard to see how I could get it out without dismantling the wing or the air conditioning. Fortunately it turned out to be something really simple - there was a kink in the hose where it went through the dashboard and up the front nearside pillar. Nice and easy. I like Land Rover repairs like that. I then drove to Derby and washed my rear window all the way just for the sheer joy of it.
 
Cam belt defo snapped. Can it be changed without taking the head off. And if not do I need the head skimmed beforr fitting the new gasket. Never done thiw before so something new.

Bummer. No need to take the head off, just remove the rocker shaft and check the push rods are straight. Likelyhood is you will have bent a few of them and need to replace them. Then it's just a normal timing belt change

You'd be unlucky to need to do anything more than that
 
Nearly ready for body off now, just clutch pipe, brake pipes and steering to undo:)

OOh, forgot ..

Not done to the Landy exactly, but bought a new tent and camp bed for wild camping when out in the Landy. Now I can't sleep in the vehicle like I did with the Disco I need something easy to put up and take down, and I wasn't happy with the pop-up tents I'd used previously ..

So bought one of these ..

and one of these ..

Waterline 4 Leg Bedchair | GO Outdoors

Put the bivvy up at home and it's pretty damn good for the price! Quality fixings, some good details, like the double doors and mudflap that rolls over them when it's folded to stop the doors getting under muddy boots and make it an uncluttered entrance.

Slightly awkward to erect and fold away, but it seems there's a knack to it which I sort of got .. when I've used it a couple of times it'll be way easier, for now it's just 'cos it's new and unlike anything I've had before .. ;)

Think for real bad weather it will need the flysheet/second skin, but for now it'll do .. :)
