Had a tinker with me suspension yet again. Am all happy now, it's set up best on 3" lift (4" was to much) now 17" rear shocks and 14.5"s front.
Thinking of going to local pay& play @ harbour hill tomrowwww but same date as Newbury spares day!! :/

sold my old safari rear door complete to a nice lad called Graham. For his 89 rebuild.

Used the money to buy some new engine oil ready for its service Monday over the pit at work......now on ebay looking for stuff I don't need but want!

Just removed the rear floor and taken out cubby box and transmission tunnel ready for pressbrake to replace the rear cross member and change clutch/flywheel and fit disco tranny box next week. Rather him than me do it.

I've been trying to identify what's causing a transmission 'clunk' which started making itself felt on Friday. I had a clunk ages ago but got rid of it with new drive flanges, suspension joints and bushes last year. The propshaft joints are new-ish and there's no detectable slack on them. And now there's a new clunk. This one sounds higher pitched than the old one, like tapping a resonant piece of metal with a hammer. There's a bit of rotational slack in the drivetrain (haven't we all got this?) but it's no worse than usual.

I might have a bit more fiddle later on and see whether I can narrow it down a bit.

Got it really muddy ..

... and promised I'd fix the winch freespool as soon as I can!

Great day out .. :)

Had another look for where the transmission clunk could be coming from. I think it might be the slack that's developing between the half shafts and the drive flanges on the rear. It's probably just getting sufficient to be audible. I changed the flanges 20,000 miles ago in autumn 2012 but not the shafts. Should have paid attention to James Martin and done both at once.

Changed oil seals, bearings and brake shoes on one side of the Salisbury axle, then watched the rugby.

Huddersfield were robbed!

Other side to do tomorrow.

Booked it in to garage to find out why we've lost power would only do 35mph up a slight incline on m62 with a head wind not good :(

Changed both diffs, T-box, gear box, engine oil and filter.

Greased up ma props.....then realised tetra schultzing at Christmas was a cack idea......orange appearing everywhere ....well apart from the front as my leaking brake vacuum pump is keeping everything coated in oil:rolleyes:
