What have you done to your Landie today.

Give it a good check over, greased prop shafts, checked tyres, adjusted a wheel bearing and cleaned it out.
Going to Yam Yam country tomorrow so want to look presentable:)

Heard a strange sound then saw my alt belt lying halfway up the road. Heard another strange rattling sound and lifted the bonnet to see my alternator broken completely off :what: how the hell does that happen, the top mount is totally sheared. Is this common on a 200tdi and is it ally or steel?

It is ally, and I would not say common but I have heard of it happening from time to time.
Mine sized up solid, and stopped me starting her.

Well I've eventually got round to doing the heater matrix.... Didn't realise that there were two bolts at the top as well as the bottom but eventually sorted it.

Good job I did because the top plastic plug on the radiator broke in half as I literally touched it leaving a tiny hole that was spraying out water! Well fitted it, bled it all and cleaned up the washer bottle too.

Was going to do the vent seals but will leave it for another day.... I'm fitting series ones so I need to dismantle a lot more and it'll be dark before I finish.

I've had a bit of a tinker today. Took my steering column cover off to have a look at the wiper switch as my wipers have an intermittent fault. Sometimes they'll stop in mid screen. A quick squirt of the windscreen washers and off they go again, which implies to me it's not the motor but contacts somewhere. The circuit tester indicates a rather dim and intermittent supply coming out of some of the terminals. I might just get a new switch as it doesn't look like the sort of thing that you're meant to take apart.

Then I gave it a service. This passed uneventfully except the fuel filter had seized itself on. Chisel in the rim, water pump pliers on the body, all to no avail. I was just chewing up the casing. Eventually I shifted it by taking the wheel off (it's a TD5 with the fuel filter under the wheel arch) and getting a sitillson wrench on the rim.

Took it for its MOT and passed:D

Few advisories for brake lines .....and my Britpart front springs have shrunk in the 11 months they have been fitted....So being in a good mood I ordered a set of genuine landrover heavy duty ones 58 quid each!

just about persuaded her up the steep drive and started to remove the IRD two bolts left and a hand full of teeth out of the prop pinion hole !! tomorrow will bring more joy .Glad i have a workshop hearing all that hail and torrential rain today :tea:
