Found a rust hole, cut it out

made a flush fit plate, tacked it in and then welded round the edge


Looks ok to me, spent a couple of mins grinding it to get it flat and neat. I was worried about stuff melting/catching fire on/in the bulkhead so i did it in small burst on opposite sides with plenty of time to cool down inbetween welds.

Just went on what i had been told, read and watched others do, dont think it came out to bad but would welcome comments

just been out converting my series 2 from servo brakes to what should be there the bloody outlet pipe would not go in the master then after a ####in hour it comes to me the fittings a smaller size ****ttttttttt du
 
Eventfull drive home...

driving home, thinksink, theres a bit of a vibration, Ill have a look when I get home, went round a corner, felt like the back end wasnt attached to the front...

Pulls over, has a nosey, got to the rear offside wheel, and wheyheyyy bit of flippin slack in there, ony checked the buggers at the end of august.
got the tools out, had a look, hmmm, shiny bits in the grease, seems to rotate relativly ok, bit of graunch, but nothing ott, and only 1.5 miles home, so I nips it up and off home.

Just now sat waiting for the wife to arrive with beer, after changing said bearing, stripping and checking the other 3, tyres swapped round. one of the cages had broken, but the rollers were all fine??

Didnt get the senders for me gauges in, thought this might be a tad more important...

beats having a collapsed bearing on the road somewhere ...
 
Ordered new lift pump...

moved it off the road back onto the drive after the bearings last night, noticed a couple of spots (not usual ones) has a look, its deisel, check it over when I get to work this morning, the Fking lift pump is leaking, not into the sump though luckily (checked that)

So much for Delphi being better, its been on less than a year, ordered a Bearmach one.
 
shoved my wand into every hole in the chassis until it dripped cavity wax everywhere. Managed to get 5.5 litres in before i ran out of places to put it.



I tell you want its cool when you shove the compressor lance up the front dumb iron and spray and you see it coming out drain holes by the rear crossmember and vice versa lol

I'm not that much of a fool ;) the pads were longer then the callipers :( all sorted now though. Ran out if time before the re test so just got a tyre shop to source the parts. They had them in an hour which I could never have done

I once refurbed the brakes on a Rolls Royce shadow 1.....
Front pads same as Mk3 cortina lol, but with twin calipers per side, the rear pads were extortionate so bought some random set that were much larger, used old one as templates and trimmed them with a grinder lol

They worked perfectly. :)
 
I've been fiddling with mine trying to identify the source of the squeaky noise that started a few weeks ago. I crawled underneath and wobbled and jiggled everything. On jacking one wheel up and taking the handbrake off, spinning the propshaft produced a roughly similar noise - it seems to be the handbrake. Maybe it's just dirt and brake dust. It's not binding and spins freely by hand. So I shan't worry any more. The next question is what it's doing with its oil. It looked a bit low yesterday so I put a drop more in and now it seems too full. However, when I parked it in the position it was in last night as I topped it up, it just looks full rather than over-full. I shall check it again tomorrow and see what it's doing. Always something to puzzle over.
