This is the trailer.

Got it off a farmer who's retiring and selling off everything - in fact it came from the same farm that that Vulcan came from. Very solid, WOFed (MOTed) and taxed with a 7.5' x 3.5' bed and a great removable stock crate on top. I won't use it for stock, the farmer used it to ferry pigs (presumably young ones) around to shows etc, but it means I don't have to tie stuff down and if I want to put bigger stuff on, I just remove the crate. Got it real cheap as well $350 (£175).

I'm going to rub it down and give it a lick of paint, sort out the guards/mud flaps. Hopefully will look a million dollars by the time I've tarted it up. :D

We've had 20mm of rain this afternoon, but I've been out filling it to the gunnels with its first load of garden waste to haul down to work tomorrow to be burnt and clearing a space for it in the garage. I've been having trouble at times finding space to get the lawn mower in the garage, but its amazing how much space you can clear for a new toy. :D

They are relatively cheap, tax is about £15/year - been trying to find out how much the WOF price is, but can't find a price.

It is quite a long bar. It might be that they made it that long to put a platform up against the bed at some point - eg to carry a lawn mower or summat - which might come in handy for me.

I've lost count of what number this one is but it isn't the worst I've bought. :p
It was being sold on F***book Marketplace as spares/repairs. The guy had parked it in a shed for the last three or four years and couldn't be bothered sorting it for MOT so I'm hoping I've got a bargain. He even delivered it to me for a total price of £600. :eek:
The boot window was stuck down and he had shrink wrap over it, the battery was dead and the rear brakes were jammed but a few hours fettling has all the above sorted. ;)
It turned out the boot door lock wasn't latching so the car saw the boot wasn't closed and wouldn't let the window move. With the latch jammed in the closed position the window worked fine. :D Even better, for some reason the latch started working again today so the issue seems to have sorted itself. :p
The brake shoes were new so I just cleaned and lubed the levers and they're working well now.
The boot door has some rust so I'll probably swap it with my old one which is in great shape and the same colour.
The interior is in good condition so a good clean will sort it and the drivers seat has only a small tear which shouldn't be too hard to repair.
I honestly think it would take very little to MOT this car but you all know that's not my plan. This one will be my EV when I get everything working in the test mule. ;)
It might make sense to MOT it before doing the work but I'll decide that later. I still have a lot of work to do to get the EV going.

Long draw bar is easier to back. Mine's quite short and its a pig to reverse.
 
Got the dust off the V6. Had a good look over, exhaust heat shield a bit rusty but otherwise OK. Fitted a set of HSE Trek wheels and off for MOT soon.
If it passes OK it'll get its new belts!!
This will be the standby vehicle whilst the TD4 has its new Torque Convertor fitted.
 
Not today, but this last couple of weeks, I fired it up for MOT, failed on back tyres, one with a cut one with cracking, and brakes causing the motor to pull to the right. The tyres fair I hadn't noticed them, but the steering was not being affected by the brakes when I was driving it, so I felt that was a bit harsh, but I had to "remedy" it, even if it was IMHO an imaginary fault.

So took it back home, and when I eventually got time took it to the workshop. At the workshop I threw it on the two poster, nipped all four wheels off, fitted new slides into the front calipers. I deliberately ordered two full sets and used the new all metal pins top and bottom on both the calipers, leaving me with 4x brand new pins with rubbers if anyone wants them? Checked the pads were sliding freely in the carrier and refitted the calipers. Went to the back end and double checked the adjustment of the shoes, ratcheted them up until the bit the drum, ie: it wouldn't turn by hand, then backed them off one click and checked the drums were free to turn by hand. Then refitted it's alternative wheels, these have the full mud tyres rather than it's "summer wheels" whcih have all terrains on them. Then I had a play with the alignemnt, it's steering a lot better now, still just a nats genitals off, but I'll catch that later. Confident I'd nailed all the test items I took it up for retest which it sailed through, with no advisories - Boom! Another years motoring authorised.

Although to be fair, it's not doing a lot, as in hundreds of miles per year. Although when working on it I did notice a wee bit of the near side felt crunchy under the paint, :-( Will whap another test on it in the summer so that longer term if it does need anything it's more clement weather to do it in, and I don't end up diving the BMW through the snow to fix the landrover. That leaves the question on what to do with the sills, I'd be tempted to put in solid box section sills as a lot of the discoverys do, with integrated hacking points and tree kickers, then again that would create a bit of a kerfuffle regarding what to do with the bottom of the front wing. Another thought is plate up the crumbly bits and use some of those checker plate sill protectors that muddy mods sells to make it pretty? Or as these are becoming an endangered I could make it right with original style sills?

Went late night shopping the the FL2, with our eldest daughter, and parked behind this Ford Galaxy (which incidentally has the same engine as the FL2), then changed parking spaces, once I noticed the driver's parking ability. :eek::eek:

I'm guessing nobody got out the front passenger door, at least not after the vehicle stopped.

It doesn't show in the picture, but the door is pushed in around the handle, and there's paint n plastic on the car park support pillar.
Definitely can't drive, so I was wise to move to another space.

For sure FL is awesome trekking car for two people when you remove the back seats. The whole back of the car can be used for gear and like yesterday, cooking inside the cabin.
