Cyclone filter. Looks like it had never seen the light of day since 2003! Slight blue smoke on start up.....hoping it now disappears (fingers crossed)

Has any one used terraclean? Thinking about having it done.....

There have been a few topics on this.

To recap.
The car has a plate on it with the weights.
Car GVW and max train weight.
What you can tow legally is a trailer that is plated up to the max train weight minus the GVW.

For example my 2006 TD4 auto has a max train weight of 4080. The GVW is 2505.

The max plated trailer I can tow legally in the UK is 4080-2505= 1575Kg.

The earlier Freelander's GVW was less, but the same max train weight, so can legally tow more.

What you are allowed to tow legally is not necessarily the same as what the manufacturer says it can.......

The trailer could be empty, but if you are pulled and the trailer is plated over the above calculation, you will be prosecuted.

No not correct epic ruder.

As long as the train weight is adhered to and the vehicle is not fully loaded you can tow 2000kg

I did understand that the trailer had to be plated to a weight that suits the towing vehicle but I haven't been able to confirm this or deny it.

When I did my City & Guilds in towing 2 years ago, that is what I was taught. Which was why I couldn't use my Yeti to take my test, as the trailer was plated too high. Had to use a Landcruiser instead.

Just had a chat with a traffic copper. His intetpretation is the plated gvw of the trailer may exceed the towing weight of the vehicle. Provided that none of the plated weights of the combination are exceeded. Ie it is acceptable to tow a 3.5ton trailer as long as it is not loaded beyond the cars maximum trailer weight and it does not exceed the train weight. The car must still be under its gvw and none of the axle weights exceeded.

So you should have been able to use the yeti legally to tow that trailer. But test regulations may be different (and more stringent) to the law.

1.8 FL1 - fitted new water pump, seated in 'O' ring with RTV, fitted thermostat housing, rear coolant pipe and attached wiring harness to zip tie points. More to follow!

Just done the exact same job on my MGF. Much easier on that though as the engine is at the other end!!
I drilled a 2.5mm hole in the thermostat before fitting.
