They are getting thin on the ground

Delighted for you
I'll keep it going as long as I can. Next job on the preservation front is some corrosion prevention on the sills, and the next cosmetic job is the chuffing headlining, which has bothered me for two or three years now. Must pull my finger out!

A nice easy job yesterday - after the handbrake getting stuck on the other week, I needed to adjust it as it wasn’t quite holding on hills. I think the cable possibly stretched slightly when trying to free it under power.

The F1 is due its 6-monthly service, so daughter bringing it down in the next couple of weekends, weather dependent. I guess it’ll be me ordering the filters…🤔

If you want it fixed quick and aren't too worried about making it look factory or just need a temporary fix until you sort it properly then have a look at these.

I used them in my car and the results were....... ahem... 'good enough'
I thought I had photos but can't find them. If anyone is interested I'll take a couple and post them.

I think I'd rather support the headlining with my head.

Its the only good reason to have a sunroof in a Land Rover. You never want to open them, because they will break, or the rust will fall out and they will leak... but the trim holds the failing roof lining up in the front.

As for the back, those netting things on the roof hold it up enough for rear seat passengers.

Its only being able to see out the back window that's a problem. Just imagine you're driving a van.

This is the status of my F1 anyway!

I say this only ever sitting in the front and hearing only minor complaints from the back seats. Fair enough, I'm a bit mutton like.

Hard to argue with this.
The results are a little 1970's Cadillac looking but better than having the sodding thing drooping onto your head.
I should have taken the headlining out of the old car before scrapping it but at that point I didn't realise the issue and I'm too lazy to do it right.

I've seen how 'lazy' you are on your EV thread, and the suspension lift topic and many many other topics :D

I've already applied a similar tactic, with some plastic covered drawing pins and some superglue

Whilst the first bit of this is true, the trim is not holding mine up at the moment :p

Take the headlining board out and strip it clean and do it once !!

And properly :)
With the correct glue that can stand hot sun. I had a couple of goes at gluing part of mine but I think the glue was rubbish because the one time we had sun over the summer it fell down again.
Any suggestions where to get new cloth as mine could do with being replaced?

There are some fabulous threads on here where people have replaced their headlining - mainly in the Disco section I think.

They generally say what cloth they used and from where.

It's a job I'm sort of looking forward to doing to see how good a job I'll make of it. I doid a boat building apprenticeship years ago and doing headlining was one of the jobs I quite enjoyed. I'm just not looking forward to removing all the 20 year old plastic clips etc, and getting the old foam off the board.

Some of the threads on here are pretty good. I'm just toying with the idea of what colour to go for. I have the cream interior and I have seen ones where people have used a charcoal grey which contrasts with the cream really well. The only problem is I need to do the fabric on the door cards and intend to use the same material and I'm not sure how that will look.

Like the one in this thread.
