In all seriousness though dude, I'm reading a book you might be interested in, it's called "a separate little war" and covers the ww2 coastal command, which operated off the north east corner of jocklandshire, bombing nazi shipping in Scandinavia. The book covers the history of the unit, and their operations out of bases you re familiar with like longside, boyndie etc. I know you're not a ww2 vet, but as a RAF vet with time stationed in aberdeenshire, it ould be worth the twelve and a half sheckles on amazon?

I remember you saying that you working on my old base Buchan Mt yard. There are a few disused flying stations dotted from Grampian to Moray firth across the firth to Sutherland.
My other home on the Shetland Islands is heavily steeped in war rescues for RAF and navy. Shetland bus is celebrated as much as the up helly aa. The Norwegian come to commemorate in lerwick and scalloway.

That book is good, we've just had our first encounter with Nazi destroyers, [looks for reading furiously emoji] I've flown through Scatsta and Sumburgh, which I'm guessing owe their origins to the RAF?

Changed the oil, cleaned the air filter and swapped the caliper guide pins for non rubber ones.

Used my FL2 for 2 dump runs, taking the old bathroom suite and scraps, as well as loads of crap from the garden too.
I must admit that the FL2 has a much more useful interior capacity, compared to the old FL1.

Yeah, with my tool box, roof bars and bits box in the boot, there's not much room for anything else.

By the way, whilst I was having a car day today, I noticed that my stat pipe has been weeping.

I also discovered I need a new cv boot.

The wife's Eos failed it's MOT last month on a CV boot. One thing I like about VWs, is there's almost no stipping to do a CV boot, as the drive shaft comes out in under 30 minutes, so the whole job was completed in just over an hour.

It's only very very minor at the moment and because the genius who sorted it last time put decent fixings on I was able to nip them up a little bit. Hopefully that'll do it!

Removed the rear hub and removed the wheel bearing.

When removing the inner race of the bearing off the hub I have nicked the hub with the grinder, what are peoples thoughts, new hub or will it be ok?

Picked up the new yellow peril F1.
Looks great apart from lacquer. New exhaust, new tyres, slight oil leak at cam seal one end. Handbrake as useless as most people put up with them! Full 12 months mot so someone liked the handbrake!!

Will service and resolve few probs then turn attention to paint.

If it were mine I'd use it then.
For future, cut bearing race to within a mm then a smart wack with a sharp cold chisel does the job without hub damage.

Realised the bumper washer jet was lose when polishing it. Out of curiosity i pulled it out and heard the metal clip oft the back fall down inside the bumper. Stopped where i could see it on the inner edge which gave a clue how to access putting it back. Undone a few screw to get me arm in to put it back properly this time. Was bricking it at the time. Heart rate back to normal once i got me arm and hand back out. Washer jet dunt wobble anymore.

No reason to stress over such things.
The bumper only takes a few minutes to remove, once the rusted self tappers are out.

Yer but no but that doesn't give the reader the same thrill of reading about the vice like crocodile jaw plastic panels gripping my arm as I feed it into the unknown in a fearless battle to put the metal clip back.

There's hope then. I'll trial fit the wheel and see what the clearance to the struts are like...
