I was thinking about this, your daughter only got that car recently, like easter time if I mnd correctly? So what's she done to it to need a clutch and a gearbox? Might need to "have a word" with her...

I fitted a replacement clutch in May, but discovered the gearbox input shaft bearing had failed, which caused the box oil to contaminate the original clutch, there was less than 500ml of oil left in the box. At the time I didn't have a replacement box, and she needed the car ASAP, so I put it back together with a new clutch, expecting to need to do the job again at some point. In the interim I found a good low mileage box, which was just as well, as the gearbox had got really noisy, presumably from running low on oil previously. So I used some time off over the Christmas break to replace the clutch again, as also fit the low mileage replacement box.

She's chuffed now, as the clutch bites hard, and the gearbox is now quiet and smooth, so hopefully that's the end of that little saga, so I can move on to the next 500 issue.

Bought another one.
TD4 manual Sport soft top. Is this the holy grail?!?!

TC, HDC lamps on, clutch bite in carpet and CD stuck in player otherwise very nice condition. 04 plate.
Will be next on the ramp for inspection.

Finding gears is a bit hit and miss as it is and gear selector a bit rubbery.
Love the seats and the engine seems more punchy than other TD4s I have driven. Quick look under bonnet reveals silicone intercooler pipes.

It also makes a motor type noise when switched off for a minute or so, any ideas!!?? Sounds near battery. But it's dark and cold so it can groan away on its own.

It's the FBH!! Didn't expect it on a 2004 car.
When I bent down to inspect the condition of the alloys I got a puff of diesel smoke in my face!!
Never had one of these before, makes a screechy sound so all is not well I fear.

I love the seats in the sport.
So, got a fault code, didn't write it down, but it indicated a faulty brake light switch.
Had the TC and HDC lights on permanently.
Brake lights worked OK so changed the second switch that I think is responsible.

Fault codes cleared but lights remained on.
Until..... I drove it, used the brakes, put the handbrake on then all dash lights went out.

Does it need a cycle or two to clear the fault lights??
Thanks

Genuinely didn't know that the AUTEL AP200 unit I bought to use with the D3 last year also scans the whole LR brand.

The TD4 plugged in and all historical issues removed rescanned and no faults found.

Wow what a bargain unit!

New battery time. LR fitted an 80Ah at 700 cca as standard to my FL2 (no stop start) but I found another battery 2mm longer at 90Ah and 800 cca. Yuasa YBX5115. Fits ok and starts quicker now. Old one was getting a bit slow before and not holding a full charge. Replaced at 76 months old.

Today I took the opportunity to replace the filter and clean the pump screen on my Haldex Gen4, while it's out the vehicle.

Finished cleaning the carpet and then fitting the replacement leather seats.
Now investigating the rear fish tank leak!!
Easier to do this while all the rear trim is out from the suspension work.

The old one will still have some life left in it.
Time to start your 12V solar project. :p

I just bought one of these
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TDR4QWK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was the cheapest 100W panel I could find at £67.50 so it remains to be seen how good it is, I already found a broken wire in one of the connectors but otherwise seems pretty good.

I've got a few Ecoworthy panels Ali, and all seem pretty reasonable for the cost.

There some odd with the description though, as it claims to charge a 40Ah battery in 36 hours, which for a 5.5 Amp panel, would be under 10 hours.

I'm sure whoever did the maths in description got it wrong, as these panels do perform OK for the money. ;)
