Completely failed to fit the tow bar :(
The car has obviously had a small shunt up the back. This has bent the rear crossmember enough to make it impossible to fit all the bolts at the same time :(
I also found that it should have parking sensors as the ECU, sounder and wiring is all present. I'm guessing whoever fixed rear end damage, didn't bother fitting new sensors. The dash switch has been removed to hide deception.

Bought some carbon fibre wrap of E**y for another project. However the door handle trim looks naff to me so thought I would have a go.

All you need is the wrap, a hairdryer and a sharp Stanley knife and patience

Finally managed to fit the tow bar. The body was rather bent but after much pushing, levering and jacking, it finally got bolted up.

It was easier than I thought, as you heat it up with a dryer it just stretches allowing you to pull out any creases. Looks better than the original finish. Bonus is if you dont like it you can remove and either go back to orig finish or put another finish on.

Someone has already had a go at respraying ours but not well so it looks pretty crappy now. Do you need to take off the door card to get that part of the handle off?

I fancy gloss black for the Champagne coloured trim bits. The door release handles would look better in chrome. I'm sure that the chrome from a Rover could be made to fit.

nope, big wide lever under the bottom most part and just slowly persuade it to unclip . the upper most bit is the tricky bit but it justs pops off when you get it in the right position.

After a bit of a search. It looks like the chrome door release handles from a D2 will fit the Freelander. :)

Ah do what I did take them off an mgf. they are basically the same but from memory they only rivet in three places. Also they have a bit of metal that sticks up and fouls the plastic door cup, just bend this back and all will be well.

That's worth a look. Mgf parts are generally cheaper than LR parts.

Now that looks better. I want to replace to cloth on the door cards with leather, just to add a bit of luxury.

Fitted a replacement TCM for the auto box. Drove it around for ages while it settled down a bit, still not there, needs driving along a nice A road me thinks.
One thing of note, the tcm is labeled with the vin number of the car it's fitted to. Don't know why. Didn't throw any error codes, but it's taking a while to bed in.
