Just bought a set of 235/55/17's. Cant afford new, so went with never repaired part worns. Not fitted as ran out of day but they look huge in my garage. Got 2 Dunlop Winter and 2 Bridgestone Duellers for £100. I'm very easy on tyres and have had a set of Maxxis Marauders on the old girl for 3 years and they came part worn on the 17 rims when I upgraded from 16s. Happy days!
 
Removed and fixed the number plate light unit that has been working intermittantly. Bit of solder did the job.
Stupid screw retainers were fecked, so had to gently drill out the light fitting screw holes and use a couple of fat self tappers and rubber spacer washers.
Fortunatley they don't show.
 
Passed MOT for 5th time :)
Fitted work/ reverse light to roof rails.

Nice one - always a relief to pass the test! I had my new used 235/17's fitted. Considering they not much bigger than 225's on paper it do look a bit more like a Tonka Toy - sure its a matter of getting used to, no different to drive - I love it.

I've been using part worn 235/55 17" for the last 3 years -
I get my winter tyres from Ford Cuga and my summers from M-Benz E-class. ;)

You can run them at 2psi less (28) and they are then a tad more comfortable, and more importantly don't wear in the middle of the tread.

Had 3 Amigo's problem (hdc and tc light on), after a lot of reading on here I checked the brake lights first, although I thought they were fine I realised they didn't work every time,
so I took brake light switch out.

I then prised it open just a little bit so as not to spill all the guts and springs out.

I sprayed a bit of brake cleaner and WD40 in(all i could find in shed), clipped it back together, gave it a few good pushes then refitted it.
I took it for a good long drive, the 3 amigos were still coming on for a bit but not as much as before and brake light still not working every time, but after a couple of miles all was fine and still is after about 15 miles, drove through big puddles (just to make sure it wasn't some thing just shorting out)and used brakes a lot.
Fingers crossed all will be ok, but rekon I will need a new switch sometime in the future.

One problem I had was checking brake lights whilst driving, after a couple of miles of looking over my shoulder every time I braked, a few near misses and an aching neck I stopped at the garage and bought some gaffa tape,
Then I bent a bit of card into a sort of curve and taped it to my midddle brake light

so I could see the reflection in the mirror each time I braked,

Thought about re fitting my propshaft for the Winter - only thought about it mind you. One of these days I will have to go defender of disco just for the switchable drive.
 
well this week my lany had some TLC at last a new alternator belt (mine snapped in a traffic jam in rd works) so replaced the power steering belt at the same time. she had new plugs and oil and filter as well no air filter as there was none in stock at the time so next weekend air filter and front pads as the are past there best to say the least
 
This week I have 'treated' the freelander to a recon vcu from Bell Engineering, and a new set of Grabber UHPs.

It drives like a completely different car with the new VCU fitted, I can actually reverse park it on full lock now without either a) stalling it or b) feeling like I was driving through quick sand.
 
Nothing - wife says "you're not spending any more money on that bloody old heap". That's a bit harsh! Let's all buy Harley's and start a bike club instead:)

Got a shiny new Mot for the V6!! :) After all the work involved with fitting the replacement engine as an unknown, it's nice to see it runs well enough to pass the emission test, by a substantial margin too.
