Burned it, cost of new clutch was a feckin joke........and the last straw!!!!
Sold it, cost of new clutch was a feckin joke........and the last straw!!!!
Sorry you have had a bad time with the FL. Mine will need doing by summer I reckon. Just been quoted £330 inc parts and vat. I thought this was pretty reasonable.
That's probably just for the clutch plate and cover, and not for the slave cylinder, DMF and clutch plate / cover which is recommended for replacement on a TD4. The price for this little lot varies from between 500 - 700 quid, parts only. Then anything from £300-500 for labour (not mates rates), and you can see why folks get the hump. Just had mine done, for just under a grand which I thought harsh, but what can you do................ can't sell it with a knackered clutch, may as well fix it and enjoy it for a while longer
Parts OEM £430 not £600Yeah, mine was a Td4. All told parts and labour, inc. dmf was minimum £1k.........was going to do it myself, but parts were almost £600. How can this be right ffs????
Anyhoo, as im a masochist I swapped it for a 300tdi Disco...ha ha ha ha, ooops.
adjust near handbrake under console
ah did that to mine my adjusters were seized though, are yours the earlier adjusters?
not sure, how can I tell, freelander is 2003 td4
I tried that first, from about 7 clicks to 3 or 4 but still wouldnt hold on steep gradient unless I wrenched it up hard,
so had drums off, checked cable wasn't seized, roughed up shoes with sandpaper and brake cleaner,
adjusted them out as far as poss to allow me to get drums back on,
Works a bit better but think I need to take them all apart to check adjusters are working and will probably fit new shoes whilst I'm at it, although not too worn at mo
yours will be like these LAND ROVER FREELANDER 1 L/H REAR BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTER | eBay
check to see if they are seized, use a thin smear of copper grease on the threads
