Twot that I am I had forgoton all about your French barbel.
Back in the 70's I used to fish the B Avon for barbel, mainly Limply Stoke and Laycock, had some good fish for the times. Also fished the upper Thames a lot, middle and lower Severn, W Avon, Wye, and spent most of the 90's and early half of 2000 on the Teme. The Teme remains my first love for barbel though I understand the barbel are not present in the numbers they were when I fished it.
Barbel fishing in France is rather different as it is pretty well all virgin water in comparison to UK river systems, rare to see another angler = no bait going in = more natural fish stocks. Easy to catch, but a 5lb fish I would class as a specimen. Basically double the weight to compare with UK sizes.
My first season living in wilshire I put a lot of time in at Lacock. Believe it or not, it’s actually starting to recover quite well there and an 11 came out in autumn. Again, didn’t renew my ticket as was just getting annoyed with poachers, littering and dogs. I shouldn’t have been so grumpy and spent the summer eves up there! I follow a guy on YouTube who fishes the teme a lot - he does well for barbel - think that rivers on the up again now too!! Seems you have moved about more than me ha! France will likely be a goer - I’m also going to do a southwest road trip with the dog and rods. If there’s anything I’ve learnt from lockdown it’s get in the car and go and explore!!

@resto_d1 I did have a telescopic fly rod behind the seat of the LR. I would walk the Thames all round cricklade & catch chub on the fly. If you saw me it would look like I was throwing a stick.
I’m sure in the shed I have split cane fly rods ;)
Have you seen carp on the fly? Cracking fun for the insane

was looking as there’s a fly carp lake in Wales that I want to go to! I have a split Cane salmon rod. Looks like it got damaged in storage but believe it was my mums grandads. I’m going to try and do an oem rebuild on it lol. If you stop using cane it loses its flex - if that rod hooked into a salmon now it would split into pieces. Will look nice on my gun and fishing room though when I finally have it ha

I’ve never fly fished for coarse. I’d like a go at pike on fly but haven’t got the gear. I got an 8wt for big and a 4wt for the chalkstream/small rivers.

Got the middle seat in but not bolted down yet, does anyone know the bolt size? I’m thinking M8 x40 with nylocks and washers, together with 4 x m8 x 10 spacers?

looks nice.

i had to put bolts up from below and lock with 2 nuts to give me studs to drop my middle seat onto.

i opened my 90 and the 110 both of which are located in the workshop looking for my electrical toolbox to fix Missus Skoda estate indicator seat repeater.

Bloody wires were snapped not sure if it was chafing due to driving down the track to farm or rodent related.
Bloody bugger to do.

I then laid under the 110 4c at the barn where i live, to see if i could bleed the clutch so i could tow start it however hadn't got right size with me as all tools in back of 90

took some pics of the chassis instead...

I thought my chassis was bad! Good luck with that.
To repair mine, I tried welding in new dumb irons and found out that the chassis was paper thin. Wasted a few quid before deciding on swapping the chassis.

Looks good. Wish I had the time and space to have a go at bringing her back to best.

hopefully someone will fancy it and bring it back too life going to try and get it running first before i advertise it for sale.
Got the log book yesterday only 3 owners from new, first was coal board.
Got an interesting storage in the back will post pics tomorrow.

Today i have tried to fit new wiper cable and wheelboxes to my 110 project
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/potential-110-project.365519/

and tried to start 90 have meddled with pump timing again and again today, got f~~~d off took shotgun and dog out to chase pheasants.
got more F#####d off saw a big bloody fox but not safe to have a go.

Came back removed timing belt and started with timing pump again. was way out, had to remove the outer pulley to get enough adjustment

then my cut down long probe for DTI got dropped back by a mate and now seems to fit and hold better in adapter

retimed pump, refitted pulley checked again, belt on tomorrow morning hopefully and see what happens..

put timing belt back on the 90

rechecked pump timing, it was 154 with no belt when belt on it was 120 ish at TDC.. had pin in and the shaft locked with the 10mm underneath. when the belt went on.

so retimed pump with DTI

bugger still wont start..

should i have not altered it after putting belt on..

bloody peed off with it now.

battery on charge.

will see in the morning

might get mad and haul it down the road tomorrow

So worked on my
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/potential-110-project.365519/

did a few bits
and worked on the 90
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/water-leak-in-timing-case.365005/

and took the 90 to bits after much meddling but sussed why it wont start, DTI is spot on with lift but am putting diesel into the wrong cylinder at TDC...

180 degrees out.

Pump on the bench again flange to come off...when will it end and the bloody thing start..

Getting fed up now
Keep your chin up mate. You will crack it. Have a break from it for a while.
:D

Thanks @pushmi-pullu

got to have it out of the workshop by Monday Avo...
so it either running or dragged out by telehandler and stood in the farmyard..

Prob wont be able to get it back in for a fortnight, got the 110 on the ramp so either need to get swivels on that and out 90 on ramp or 90 out.. 110 track rod end and drag link bits wont be here til mon.. were promised for tomorrow...

Will be giving the supplier some earache tomorrow morning...

I have done N/S hub and swivel rebuild on my 110 project

My 90 is in the same state as it was yestreday

FIP on the bench

W
Has been timed, fitted to vehicle.

Problem dioagniosed

FIP removed..

FIP >>>broken with a Capital F

explains why i couldnt get it to run, even when timed correctly...

fitted another Fuel Injector Pump to my 90

turns out that is fecked as well..

So wasted my morning, checking the pump timing etc and fiting it the belt etc

Stripped my 110 Os hub and swivel ready to fit the new seal kit.

Fitted my new wiper cable tube. cables runs loads free, however it still blows fuses, but when wiper motor is run without cable it works fine, think it is breaking down under pressure. drop it at a mates for him to give it some TLC.

Fitted a winter tyre from 90 to my 110 to see what they sit like
