Just being busy today finishing off this part of the project. Fitted an extra earth link from G/box to chassis on top of main earth from batt to G/box. Tidied up a bit of exposed wiring in back rear quarter. Adjusted steering lock stops and the tracking, I last did the tracking about 6 months ago and wasn't going to bother, but I have had the steering wheel off and as I had the front up on jacks to do the lock stops thought I'd just true things up by eye and then pop the steering wheel on.
Something was going on there, looked wrong so got a length of wood and both fronts were well out, got underneath and checked and the tracking was +10mm to the front. When I was doing the stripdown for the chassis repairs I found the track rod was slightly bent so changed for a new one, new TRE's fitted to what I thought was the right measurement to centers. Just goes to show, check and check again.
Anyway, took her for a drive this afternoon to get some fuel. I can actually hear the radio, so the insulation works. It does help that one speaker is about 4 inches ffrom my right lugg. Everything feels nice and responsive. Filters and fluids tomorrow after the rugby.
A few photo's for you. The organised chaos of wireing in my home made center consul.
Nearing completion, radio and CB both work, couple of spare switches just in case, the two on the left are Kenlow overide and rear worklight.
The rear drawer system, basically a box to fit between the wheel arches X 2ft deep, a couple of trays hung on full extension HD runners, each pair rated at 100Kg. The whole lot was out of one 8 x 4 sheet of 18mm ply.
Drawers faced with some checker plate I just happened to have kicking about, (you know I've been storing that for the last 15 years - knew it would come in one day).
The finished article. For the time being I have drilled down through the top into the drawer fronts and secured with dropping in a split pin to stop them opening up when driving, I may end up doing something different eventually. Anyway, get your measurements right and it's an easy DIY project, although I was a chippy in a previous live.
