Rejuvenated the plastic wheel arches with some autoglym plastic restorer and purchased a complete set of decent take-off lights from a later Defender on eBay for £3!:cool::D
 
Just got back from collecting 5x worn once/in near mint condition/still in boxes Wolf Wheels + 23x brand new wheel nuts. All in LR boxes and still with wheel wrapping. I'm a very happy boy. They're currently white, will buzz back, prime and paint in NATO Green Gloss later in Springtime once the old girl's fully back together and shaken down.
 
If anyone's is looking for high quality LED bulb upgrades there's a great little British company called Better Car Lighting. The founder is an engineer who has co-developed superbly designed LEDs with Samsung. The LEDs are very well thought through, are tough, have long life cycles and use the body carrier as heat discharge/heatsinks - this is smart design and are not to be confused with cheapo' Chinese jobbies. He also has a range of soft glow LEDs specifically design for the classic car/Land Rover market place where overly modern, overly bright LEDs look so out of place. +++ the LEDs are dim-able with one of their retro dimmer pots/knobs. Have a good look here as the range is huge...

Wow, what a weekend...

Friday evening assembled, primed and fitted new brake master cylinder. Saturday started a job I've been meaning to do for ages...clean 33 years of crud off the gearbox and transfer box. Started with Gunk and a scraper, realized I needed some extra help, aha, STEAM! Picked one of these Karcher jobbies from Argos https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8089803 and set about a very dirty job. Six litres of steam and a very dirty set of overalls and v8250 face and hair later both boxes are 95% clean. Have left with a further coating of Gunk to soak overnight and will finish off trow evening. The little Karcher unit is superb for getting into all the 'box crevices and webs :) same goes for the s**t in hair o_O
 
Haven't actually done anything, but have just had a lightbulb moment.
When I was doing all the resto/repair work last year I bought and fitted a decent radio so that I could use a mini USB to play tunes, this morning while waiting for the doris who was in the dentists, I was vacantly looking at the radio display and realised the group of numbers at the R/H end of the display was a clock. !!! And it was right ! it must have set itself via the radio signal. :confused::confused::confused::confused:

My first thought was going to be a flush through and clean, same with injectors. Also priced up for new replacements :eek: so bit the bullet with Bob&Ribble as the engine's is brand new from TurnerEng incl' modified head. Can't wait to get the old girl back on the road.
