Hi, I'm about to do an oil change and a bit unsure on what oil to buy, halfords 20/50 classic oil maybe?? It's a 2.5n/a diesel. Thanks

Any good quality 10/40 or 15/40 diesel oil will be fine. Doesn't even have to be for turbo engines, although most of the diesel oils are specced for them nowadays.
If you want to save some money, buy it from a local oil merchant, or a factor like mill,instead of Halfrauds!
Best off getting a 25ltr drum of the stuff from somewhere like Smith & Allen (you'll need plenty of it after all) and much cheaper per litre that way I use their 15w/40 and works very well for me - I recall it being just under £55 including delivery

True, but remember, not all oils are equal, hence the variations between manufacturers.
TaylorsLandy72 - In my Siii 109 petrol, I use classic Halfords 20W50; you can use the same grade in a desiel, but as Oxides mentions above, and especially for older desiel engines, best try to lay your mitts on an oil specified for desiels due to the detergent factor.

And there isn't really any such thing as ordinary oil. As well as different grades, oil comes in different specs. Some are for petrol engines, some for diesel, some for turbo diesel, some are high change interval for fleet use.
There are also mineral, semi-synthetic, and synthetic oils available nowadays.
All the oils will have numbers,letters, or both, on the label, to tell you what applications the oil should be used.
It is a big subject, if you are interested google it up there will be loads on the net about it.

I was unsure which oil to use in my 2.25 diesel. I wanted to use 20w/50 but most were not suitable for diesels.
I emailed Opie oils for some advice and they recommended Millers Classic 20w /50. It apparently has some good additives. Always used it since and seems fine.
