What fills this hole?

Hi folks, anyone able to identify this hole on my 59 series 2 gearbox? Can’t seem to locate it on the workshop manual. Any advice on the proper plug? It drives pretty well without being able to keep oil in it, but probably should be addressed

Lol, trying to remember from my old series , was that for when u go wading to prevent water ingress on the plates then remove it after

been a long time since I had my series

You’re right - it’s the flywheel drain hole. Plug is optional according to the manual I have. See attachment. I haven’t got one fitted and all’s been well for ever

They only leak if you put oil in them

Flywheel drain hole, you can get them from a plumbers merchant for pennies, cant remember the size though

Engine would have had a bracket that the plug screwed into for storage when removed from housing have a a look in case it is there. in the same vicinity.

On the side (drivers) of the bulkhead, there's a hole, you have to open the drivers' door to see it, the hole is for a spare plug, and it fits in the hole

Its actually a wading plug.....if you going in deep water....fit the plug.....keeps the water away from the clutch.....the bung is usualy screwed into a plate nearby.
