Not so much doing as watching MrGorsky change one of his ball-joints. It all went like clockwork with no drama, heat or cold required. Most disappointing.

Near-side was more entertaining. The bl**dy press bent out of shape trying to get the new one in. Clearly an Ebay chineesium special. After a lot of mucking about given up and will have to get a replacement. Talk about a throw-away society: lucky if you get 1 car's worth of changing ball-joibts before it is f*cked.

JFC. They're about £7 here. You're not telling me there are no imperial prop nuts in the States and a cheap tool?!

I have mine to do at some point so one off us will
The nuts and bolts are not a problem but no one over here is going to be selling that special tool. I don't see any advantage over a thin wall socket and extension anyway.
My brother told me Snap-on has a thin wall impact socket but it's something like US $30.
I will just get them snugged up good with impact and finish with box end wrench.

This is what you really need with the arms on both sides of the press but it costs 7 times as much!

Glad you made it there and back without too much issue. At least with an older engine you're only without dials when you leave something off. A modern car would have thrown a right fit and you have been looking for the wire before you could leave!Had a run to the hospital this afternoon, I usually leave 1 1/2 hours before appointment to give 1/2 hour to sort paperwork, and add 1/4 hour onto journey time for the krapton factor. First little town I have to go through has road closed so end up taking a 6 km diversion, so that's the 1/4 hour more or less gone already, hope there are no other problems.
Then I notice the temp gauge hasn't moved off the stop, bummer, carry on with fingers crossed. In reality in 6 years of ownership I have never had a cooling problem, but even so I was glad to get back with no issues. Job for tomorrow - look for disconnected wire from when I changed the filters last week.
It's just unsettling when something like this happens, especially with the VM lump, and it was an appointment I really did not want to miss.
I have one of these that i got for my vans joints i was hoping it will fit the p38 ones, i can always make up the correct size bit in the workshop.
Ordered new dampers from Bearmech, forgot it was the jubee weekend and only selected standard delivery. Need to call them now and see if they'll let me pay the difference for next day.
Hope it's a wire off or a duff sensor and not lack of coolantHad a run to the hospital this afternoon, I usually leave 1 1/2 hours before appointment to give 1/2 hour to sort paperwork, and add 1/4 hour onto journey time for the krapton factor. I got in touch at lunch to be told unfortunately the parts were already with DPD and are on standard shipping. Got an email from DPD telling me I am getting the parts tomorrow. So it sounds like they have upgraded me for freeI did the same thing but they're already in the system.
