Yep, first one we bought, an Anniversary 300tdi. Towed nearly all the stuff we put into our house in France. Reliable as heck and comfortable too, more so than the TD5 which gives me an ache between the shoulder blades after a long drive.
Designers in those days said "feck off" to the wind tunnel geezers, most of the time. Well there weren't Mways then, except maybe in Germany!
And who drives at the speeds where it is an advantage all day long? Not many.
Sadly the Annie hasn't moved in a few years as it needs at least the sills welding.:(:(.
Also Wifey can no longer drive a manual. It'll get done one day. ;)
 
I’ve had a RR so long I forget how physically enduring a L.R. can be. My last 300tdi was a 90. Pull a house up to 55mph, any more than that would start shake bolts loose and undress itself down the road. Had both the drivers door and spare wheel/rear door abandon ship. Shoulders hips and back would suffer and you had to drive with a Mack on and the window down or you’d feel like you were in a coffin

Ahhh...the good old days! Comes under the heading of "Joys of Motoring", I believe!
I bought a Citroen CX 2400 Familiale many decades ago. It had a Webasto sunroof that flooded the drivers seat anytime it rained - it would be, wouldn't it! We bought several bath sheets, the biggest we could find, to soak up the deluge ¦~[

I had the 2.5 diesel version, what a car.320 miles with 5 passengers one way to see my lads passing out parade then him and all his gear on the return.All on 8 gallons.;):D:D
 
Its throwing a hissy fit at somthing,
3 times on startup bong select netural. Bong trans fail safe,

Restart again and it goes away

I have noticed my high low motor has got quite noisy and will make a noise and won't always change range,

The wheel always drops off the rear door. The metal thing stopping the door opening too far tends to rip out too but I never had the driver's door drop off!

Yeah that’s what happened. Took spare wheel mount off and bolted it on the bonnet like a Series after that. The holes left helped let the draught out. Had a head on collision and it never budged but weighed front down she didn’t steer so good with nothing in the back. Plus had to stick a stone underneath let the water out or it would fill up and leap out at pedestrians on bends.
The door I disconnected the check so it folds right out easier getting in and out opening gates on inclines stops it slamming back at you. One day coming off a roundabout it opened itself flew out and snapped off. Welded back on with a bit of bother went around the bulkhead

When considering what sort of vehicle to buy to do all the towing we were totally impartial and even looked at Jap-cr@p.
We drove both a Defender and a Disco.
I said to the bloke, (Land Rover dealer) "The Disco is a car, the Defender is a truck." and he agreed with me. As we knew we'd be going long distances we opted for the Disco and have never regretted it. Although the Defender does really look the part.
