What did you do with your Range Rover today

Drained the oil and did some more engine cleaning.
Tried to sort out the non-functioning rear access. Now think it might be a wiring issue.
And also gashed the top of my head on the bottom corner of the top tailgate where it hadn't opened fully in the dark,

Rear access?

Yes, that tailgate could do with rotating 6" higher. I have wondered if it could be modified.
 
Basically all the brake pipes from the middle to rear are shot. OSF shield is badly corroded and is rubbing on the disc, which explains the noise and squeeking I've been getting.

Advisory or fail? I'd still do them but if the latter I would report the place. Someone not as careful as you will trust them and they'll be a death.

Nothing on the MOT however the specialist has quoted for them to be entirely replaced.

Total bill is £1358 for everything including labour.
 
Re-evaluating doing the ball joints myself :eek: if @Flossie offer of the ball joint tool is still there!
Does replacing the CV joint add any difficulty or is that the easy bit?
I know folks say you won't need to centralise the hub if you replace the joints, but the way things have gone on this motor to date, i need to plan for the worst
 
It’s not to bad a job replaced the cv joints on mine why I was at it but I wasn’t in any hurry for the car I will post on here what I’ve done so far one day bloody great long list and big book of invoices to match

The CV joint is the easy bit, I posted how to get it off the drive shaft a couple of days ago.
 
Nothing remotely like that. Just feeling the blood trickling through my hair after some Saxon language.

That looks much worse than when I faceplanted into the back of a car who stopped at a green light. More damage to the motorbike from the police walking on it than the actual crash.
That was hitting a 4x4 girder frame work headfirst. Quite a few pints of blood came out with that one:eek::D
 
It's worth a degree of "extra" payment for a good specialist to know it'll be done right and without damaging your vehicle IMHO

Yep and we've come to an agreement we're both happy with, too. Can't fault the chap at all and I'd be happy to buy further cars from him.

How fast were you going? Reminds me of my mate telling me about being first aider at a truck repair shop. Guy came wandering in covered in blood at the end of tea break and totally confused. He's missed his footing and gone down straight across a truck pit and hit the far side with his face. That was 11am, my mate didn't get back from the hospital until 8pm, to find they'd locked the yard up with his car inside. Guy had broken and dislocated jaw, smashed cheekbone and eye socket, lost a load of teeth, broken nose, plus all the 'ordinary' scrapes, sprains and stuff you'd expect of falling into a deep inspection pit.

Was down pit riding a conveyor belt (naughty) and electricians had put frame up for transformer I went straight under through the gap, about 12 inches, head first. The steel pins into my head were to hold the front of my face in place until the bone knitted together. Was a bit sore for a while
