The point was the cruise uses a vacuum and pressing the pedal might produce a hiss / pop sound as that vacuum is released.

I had something similar for a while, replacing the fusebox was the answer for me

Its a bit of fun mate. I did a little Hijet van years ago as Starsky & Hutch, a Brabus smart car as The A team and now The General Lee which i have always wanted to do for years. It was always gonna be an Ape' 50 or a Robin Reliant.
Its so much fun wizzing around my town in it blasting the Dixie horns ( via a blue tooth bass speaker and my phone for max effect ) and folk love it. Not had one negative comment yet about it so far. Wont be long though before some leftie knobber says the Confederate flags on it are a sign of hatred and racism!!! Numpties.
It all started with my Chopper back in 1976. LOL
