I'm not really quite sure buddy what your issue is here??? Its my decision on how i play things out so why your getting all hyped up about something that is not your problem sort of miffs me a tad. I have dealt with it my way and my way has paid off for me 100% because the dealer has now paid me back 100% of the purchase price today plus extra on top by way of apology for the trouble i endured. That in my book AFAIK is a result as at first he just wanted to fob me off which he failed on. One thing you DONT do these days is mess or f**k with a veteran of the armed forces. Its damaging to one's health and any veteran who has served or any current serving service person ( God bless them all ) will know this. "Never underestimate the power of the force" i have always said and " the force" has always been with me through thick and thin of all my 25 years i served and i am a strong believer in it.

What caused it all is again AFAIK a mystery and one i will not at all be bothered about from now on thank you and finally. Cheers. Its the dealers problem now to resolve NOT MINE.

I guess,excuse me if I'm talking out of line @domino ,the point you were trying to make was after all the time taken to answer your posts, it would have been nice to have a definitive answer to what happened to your engine, not for your benifit but for other members on this forum.I can see you are p1ssed off with the situation you found yourself in but the feck you attitude to the people who were trying to help you doesn't ring true to the camaraderie I experienced whilst serving .if you do buy another green oval you may find members not responding so readily. Glad you got your money back.

The attitude was ****. Asking for advice on this, that, the next thing at the same time acting as though having a massive budget meant he didn't need to heed the warnings or advice of the rest of us peasants.

Plenty folk on here have bought what appears to be a ****ter but actually, is a decent car. The same applies for the opposite. This individual seems to think he knows better than the masses and that throwing money will get him what he 'deserves'. The collective experience on here seems to stand for very little.

To then try and throw in the fact he was in the military... Well, for me, it's laughable. I, personally, couldn't give two shiny little fcks what you have done or haven't done. If you show me respect, I'll gladly offer the same. To think there is some ethereal god aura because you served time in some force, somewhere, makes you worth less in my mind. Those who served and speak nothing of it.. Yeah, they'll get a handshake from me and I'll buy him or her a drink.

This one, on the other hand, can bolt.

In short, @tomcat59alan, you were 50% correct and in no way were you speaking out of turn. I think quite a few of the long timers on here share the same view; they're just too polite to say it in public.

I've owned the Solihull Horror 15 years now and there's no way I could have held on to it even half that long without help from other owners who were willing to help me out with my endless questions and just as they were paying forward the help THEY received, so too do I try to do the same and I feel that's what many people on here (and other forums with knowledgeable members) are doing.

However, it may not be that everybody feels the same and a guy who just got hold of one- and a dud at that- might not even have the depth of experience to contribute anything..... or even know he has experienced something extremely unusual and has something to contribute.

Maybe.

Either way, one of the things I've learned about the P38 is that it demands genuine enthusiasm, a genuine interest in the car and how it works, a willingness to learn new stuff from anybody willing to share, a pool of fellow owners you can lean on for help and advice, a certain level of technical ability AS WELL AS a more-than-decent budget if it's going to be kept any length of time. There's a sort of natural selection going on which will wear down any owner who doesn't fit the profile and just leave those who do in the community.

At least there's very little of the OPPOSITE problem here- people who feel that their knowledge (gained from somewhere in the first place) is some sort of ego boost entitling them to the supplication of newer owners as opposed to something to be shared with anybody trying to keep one of these cars running.

I'm very glad I found this forum... and I hope to stay for a very long time. I just hope we can keep on doing what I've been enjoying these past 3 weeks since I joined and let the P38s themselves determine who keeps them and who doesn't.

Well said that man,you did forget the need for a good sence of humour, and the ability to give and take the pi $$ taking. Three weeks well it seems longer,you've put years on me.:eek::D:D

I have already in a previous post buddy mentioned what the garage diagnosed was the issue so am unsure what next to say about it all apart from its f**ked. Its all done now and i can move on from it all. Regards,
