Godawful noise started in the engine on the way to work this morning. Nothing showing on the nano and too dark to look around when I got home. Looks like I'm going to work in the Alfa this week.
Cat curled up someplace warm?Tensioner for serpentine belt?
Dunno yet. Gets faster and louder when the revs go up.Tensioner for serpentine belt?
Not yet. That was one of my first thoughts too.You did your water pump ye?
I've just unsorned the Alfa so I have wheels for the week.If it’s coolant pump well, you know what happened to me.
Can check pump for play makes hell of a noise from bearings. Spin by hand you’ll feel it. Don’t drive it if you suspect pump it makes some damage.

So I've been fettling the bit of the top tailgate where the seal is held on, I say fettling, I should say faffing about, it's only taken me a week so far, mostly waiting for paint to dry - should have done it in the summer - but final coat was dry today so will finish tomorrow.@frog hopper gets a noise like that from passenger seat on the way to the garden centre.
Makes him buy plant pots.
And now its for sale on ebay with 50k miles on the clock with loads of bids on it. LOL.
what did he say was wrong with it?Well guys, had some devastating news just now on my P38 from the specialists.
THE ENGINE IS MULLERED. Totally knackered and beyond economical repair. Im gutted.
The legal battle to get all my monies back now off the selling dealer will commence and he can have it back once i have removed all the many new bits and parts i fitted to it that is. Failing this it will be sold as is to the highest bidder as she must be worth a fair bit in parts alone or much more if someone puts another engine in her which i aint doing. Had enough now and its making me ill just thinking about it.
If anyone wishes to speak to me about it then please just PM me with a number to call and we can chat. I have just sorn'd it on dvla so as to not lose anymore money. I spent about £3000 on new bits too which are mostly fitted but some are not.
Thanks for all your help, support and banter guys but i am just too upset at the moment and need to have a big mug of tea and a good scream.
