Just back from my annual trip to the yUK, 25.62 mpg on the 323 mile trip up through floods and against a 60kmh wind, 24.61 on 418 miles whilst in the UK including 2 hours in jams on the M1 and M25 not to mention all the hold ups on the A27, 27.12mpg on the 324 mile run home in good weather. On the run to the UK and the return the P38 was loaded to the roof. All brim to brim figures. Not bad for a 2.25 tonne lump. Total of 1065 miles and only a slow punture in one of the old and worn Goodyear Wranglers to report
It's a P38, not an L322 It's still the only car with which I've ever felt the need to carry diagnostics, overalls and sparesSee, they a'int all that bad really are they???
busy man what's that new box like smooth as hell worth every penny I bet mine is looming TQ makes funny noises when cold , not getting any irregular things going on yet oil still good . Maybe I change it to oftern but I know my day is commingThought it was about time to remove the emergency repair that the RAC did for me on New Years Eve last year!!
So, replaced all the cooling pipes, some were horrifyingly soft and squidgy when empty, replaced the water pump and cleaned out the rad.
The sun was still shining so I pulled out the intercooler and cleaned that out, a lot cleaner since I blocked off the EGR, did an oil change and replaced the fuel filter whilst I was waiting for the oil to drain.
Next week; diffs, UJs and a wee check of the fluid in my new gearbox. Yea, you're right, I don't trust garages.

Not only smooth but I'll swear that the car is quicker as well. It might just be that I'm not scared to kick the Clarkson pedal any more.
No road tax in France either and the MOT is every 2 years but not many Range Rovers about. Plenty of rich bankers on the Jersey.Just got back from Jersey....was amazed at how many P38's are on the island! Read somewhere there is no road tax & MOT so that probably helps
