Be careful when using Waze full time, I used to use it (and a different app for driving trucks) on my old phone, and after 2 years, it burnt the HUDs into the phone screen.

For that reason alone, if you're a heavy satnav user, buy a stand alone unit. If it is occasional use, it should be reet.

Thanks. I'll bear that in mind. Fortunately I only use it in other people's vehicles as a get out of jail. I won't have it on my personal phone - I won't allow many apps on that as they nick too much personal data - but my work phone is partitioned so it goes in the sandbox side with the rest of the intrusive junk.

Still not made my mind up what to do, tommy tomtom is that old its not supported any more and for how often I need one now I dont see the point in paying out loads, see over on fullfatrr couple of guys got the xgody and it took them where they needed to be in france , friend of mine has had 9 inch version in his truck for couple years now with no problems.
Google Maps & Navigation works well for me, constantly being updated, the only one I have found that has every new road and bypass in France.

Have to agree. Beyond all the paid for SatNavs, Google maps seems to be always up to date and "nearly" every phone has it already installed.
Don't worry about "Big Brother" watching you or pinching your data, that horse bolted ages ago. Everytime you put fuel in your car, go shopping or send a text message/ email/ phonecall, they know where you are and what you're up to. Welcome to the 21st century...

Yesterday I sat in long queues on the M25 and associated Motorways because HGV drivers can't actually drive and managed to crash their vehicles at/around the Dartford crossing.
A 76 mile journey (70+% on motorways) that should have taken 1Hr. 39mins took over 6 hours and I diverted around the problem via the A2/Blackwall tunnel and out again on the A13 to home arriving just after 10PM.
Worst bit was that the Rangie ran so low on fuel I had to dive onto the hard shoulder and wait until the traffic cleared a little or I would have burnt off my last remaining gallon in the queue.
Managed to get off the M25 and into Bexley to refuel. I was surprised (a little) to find the Blackwall tunnel also had 2 miles of tailback with all the others doing the same detour as me.
Our Motorway network is a joke. Cleanup response is also lacking.

Drove to Saint Sébastien at the top of Spain... Nice:cool:

Swapped the oil from the box along with the filter and maybe I shouldn't have... Slight thud from 2nd to 3rd.... Fûck... The magnet was thick with a graphite like paste.:( it may be time to strip the donor cars gearbox.

Google & Garmin seem to be the only sat navs that know my house exists, still it's only been here since 1628:rolleyes:

Replaced the interior door handle for a nice unit I got from The Bay. Also fixed a speaker while I had the door card off, turns out it wasn't plugged in. Absolute bastard getting the door card off though. I always worry about pulling too hard, but it took some welly.

Job done, back together, and I greased all of the moving parts, door handle is slick as runny **** now.

Today i banged (Sorry gently taped ) my left blend motor on the heater, with a socket on the end of my finger ,like a wee hammer , And its moving again ,did this some years ago so it lasted quit well. ..Took me longer to get the bloody glove box to line up ,But now it shuts better than it did :) Happy days....;)

Started the engine!! Wow!! Seemed to get up to a sensible pressure and no more. The coolant stayed in too!! The thermostat didn't open but think I just need to leave it running longer, I chickened out
Fitted the drivers side inner wing too! Ready for mot now, then spend time replacing the brake fluid

booked in for MOT! mentioned it was LPG and the guy said.. they have to do a special test for LPG because its dirtier than petrol and diesel and would fail both tests

Bizarre.. mine went in and I was told previous by the gas service engineer that the LPG immission test was cleaner than petrol or diesel so was easier to pass..!

i know! last MOT the same bloke said the same and always test as LPG because they dont know how its been presented!
years ago, a different MOT station asked me to switch so he could test both

Just had mine done and was told to leave it on gas, as whatever it is on at the time of entering the test bay is was it would be tested on.
