Did a big run in Mrs Bagshots Saab.. rather have been behind the wheel of Betsy. But MPG didn't warrant the cost this this time.. sad ..

Hgf? (Head gasket fault?)But did see your rebuild thread with interest. So you gonna fix this and sell what?..:)

This one is a keeper low miles low owners last chap a very decent and honest guy had overheating problems and coolant loss was recoverd off the m25 to his trusty garage who did a sniff test and condemned the headgasket. Not wanting the possible cost of hgf, poss cracked head or damaged block offers it for sale. Test showed exhaust gases in the coolant.
Iv bought it turned off the LPG bleed the coolant system and so far today done over 200 miles with no issues......watch this space as I'm pulling the cooling system apart next week and stripping down the LPG vapouriser

Gave her a wash and leather off, that’s better.
Into the garage and next week will get around to do the black plastics and see if I can get them black again.
While I wash leathering off a blue mud ball turned up so it got a quick go over with the pressure washer and brush(I mean quick)
Spent more time cleaning under it as I am going to be working under it soon to do exhaust. CE47DA22-1A3C-4312-8EE8-4E6C6B0E435A.jpeg55A9BAA5-8FF1-4CB1-97BB-334CF0B0CECF.jpeg2FD08778-3539-4550-BB93-A806B4D19D76.jpeg

Nothing.
But what I did do is take out the glow plugs on a spare engine I picked up cheap off a mate a couple of months ago, gave a good squirt of preserving oil into each cylinder, turned the engine over by hand, gave another quick squirt and replaced the glows.
One thing, the first turn of the engine was a bit stiff, after I got it to rotate a full turn it became much easier. I presume the preserving oil has lubricated the rings/bores, so all should be good if I ever need it.

Looks like a VDO.
Tis my man! Tis just that.
I didn't want the cheaper unit, even though it would save me a fortune but because i dont want to have to go back in there again!!
Here's a question, nrv. There is or isn't one on this unit?
I do however have a tiny silver part in the fuel line just before the filter, all original by the looks of it. The fuel line goes from 8mm upto10mm? I'll get a picture....

This! Thanks Island 4x4!
When you fit the pump, watch that you don't knock the float wire arm out of the plastic part of the potentiometer, it comes out very easily as I found to my cost. All back together to find the fuel gauge not working, unluckily I must have dislodged it when I put a pipe in to pump out the diesel, so tank out again today.:(

Unlucky is damn right!! I'll certainly be keeping an eye on that! thank you for the tip;)

It's not the Rover V8, perhaps you had not noticed?

Oh I noticed it has a BMW v8 instead, took a bit longer stripping it down to the plugs but I'm happy the compression test is good as it passed with good readings.
I bought this as spairs or repair having been diag with hg failure by the guys mechanic. Was fully prepared for yet another strip down and rebuild like my mates one.
