Top job Dave, they look like new again. Mine also need a bit of TCL, sounding a bit bouncy, could I ask what exactly did you do to fix them.

Paul.

Very simple fix Paul eBay for a refoaming kit 6 inch. Take the sub unit out and strip it down very easy to do, remove the speaker sealing rings lift out the speaker and clean up all the old foam a sharp Stanley blade will do.
You need a decent contact glue some of the kits come with I just used some evostick I had to hand.apply a bead to the speaker edge where the old foam was glued to it a bead to the new foam ring my new ones are actually rubber then stick them together. Job done I don't stick the outer part of the ring to anything the sealing ring is good enuff.
Assemble and enjoy

Just gave her an oil and filter change, that is all.
Couple of months early and a couple of thousand miles early as well but I may need to be back in the UK in a hurry anytime soon so didn't want to put it off.

Spent a half hour dribbling oil down the throttle cable while jiggling the pedal, finally fixed a slightly sticking pedal.
Not a big or difficult job, just one of those "Oh I'll have to remember to do that tomorrow" sort of jobs that gets forgotten until next time driving.

Finished stripping out and washing all the plastic from inside the old girl then primed it all all the carpets now dry and no leaks from heater matrix

Washed the Rangie and it looks much better for the effort expended.
For good measure while I was at it and the foam-lance was out ans set up, I then washed the Wife's POS Citroen Picasso.
It was hot, and I am knackered but both cars look clean for a change.

Gave mine a full detail,
Wash then clay barred it.
Washed again then paint renavator.
Coat of autoglym resin polish.
Then a coat of canabura wax.
Used my new wheel woolies, brought up the wheels like new.
Then polished my new pipes.

Fixed the rear brake caliper on the side of the road as the caliper bolts decided to make a bid for freedom. The top one managed it, the bottom one was half undone.
Started off as a scraping sound with wheel speed.:eek:

@PPP38vouge What's the shiny stuff on the water hoses, it looks really good?

nice job dave. where did you get the foams I searched high and low for the right diameter foams when my subs went. I ended up replacing the whole box. I have the old box still which could do with refoaming

To be honest I wrongly bought 8inch to start with after a gaggle crap search realised they wouldn't fit when I went to strip them down then orders the correct 6inch ones simple kit off the bay. While my amp is working its a decent sound but its playing up and iv an android going in soon doing a complete install at some point

Hi Dan,
The stuff is autoglym vynil and rubber care, you just spray a light mist of water over the the engine and whilst it's still wet spray a light mist of the rubber care over the engine then just leave to dry, it protects all your plastic and hoses too.
Paul.
Thanks Paul, I may very well give it a go. :D

Last week i did an oil change and gearbox fluid and filter change and then drove it to Scotland and got the ferry from Aberrant to Shetland islands Have done about 1200 miles and had suspension pump pack up but was carrying a spare so 10 min fix and carry on around the islands then get the ferry to Orkney some time and do those islands as well. the fare from Aberdeen is nearly the same a a single ticket from Australia to the UK but your fare on the plane included at least 6 meals where as breakfast was an extra 10 quid on the ferry. Its amazing how many miles you can clock up on islands that are about 100 miles long.plenty of wildlife and not may people how i like it. will spend about another month on the islands before i head back south then will have to drive to Copenhagen where we fly to Greenland for a couple of weeks then fly back do some touring around Norway and then late October get on cruise ship back to Australia for a couple of months and use my Disco 3 around there and booked on a cruise bake to UK getting back about may.

Did you get to the bottom of the power issue?

Had to pump the front tyre up was flatter than flat so I could go shopping and get packed up to go set up at the Prestwood steam fair.
@Grrrrrr are you still planning on popping along.

Yes, mate. Looking forward to it. Planning on dragging my boy along again too. Be nice to see a few more P38s down there, maybe some of the southern lot: @Saint.V8, @Dopey etc. Should be nice weather again. And this year if a see a complete set of 50 taps and dies for a fiver I'm not getting distracted but dropping the kid and going for the sale!

Well I am not looking forward to the heat as will be out in it from tomorrow till Monday but I have a few crates of cider to help, you will probably find me with the miniature steam or there abouts or in my cortina.
