Went to collect a boat from a field near Swindon for my other halfs dad. 500 mile or so round trip at I think an amazing average of 18.7mpg including the return journey towing.

Tanks below the stop for empty so shes a sod that low yes very low. Xyz is okay where the cable connects onto selector mechanism underneath the hole has ovaled slightly

Will be interesting when she runs out of fuel then. If it is in park but showing reverse the hole has more than ovaled slightly. Or of course the switch needs adjusting.

She said 50miles last night 4 miles home 6 miles into town this morning. 10 miles to village then 2 to mums house so very soon id guess. There's always a drum of white diesel sat about anyway. Cable ligned up as per rave but going into park it dont push it 100% into park the hole is normally a m6 but its ovaled to approx a m8 if it was round

I hardly think 1 mm either way is causing what you have. XYZ switch needs adjusting properly.

Its more the 1mm cant take a pic now lol

If it's supposed to be a 6 mm hole and it has ovaled to 8 mm it cannot be more than 1 mm either way. That would NOT give you what you have. Either the cable is in the wrong position or the XYZ switch is out. Might be a good idea to sort it. Pretty simple job to bush the lever. Then set it properly.

No3 where the bit with the split pin goes through the selector it rocks about. If i lock the stick in N and take it out as if i was adjusting it i can turn the bit that winds up and down cable its self 4 turns 1 way and it will still slot in. In the movement iv got you can get half a gear before it pulls on it to go down the gears

Iv got one that isnt elongated on the box i used as a doner for the bell housing il swap it over when i get back and show the difference.

Ok leave it at that for now, your estimate of 8 mm oval must be way out. Cable with stick set in neutral, should only be adjusted to fit in lever AFTER XYZ switch is in proper position and with the XYZ switch set neutral two clicks back from park. It can be fiddled but there is a special tool for setting XYZ switch.

Xyz is correct. If i move it to park with fingers it goes no problem because of the elongated bit it dosent push far enough into park for the xyz to reconise it. Same story with 1 aswell

So when you turn selector shaft fully clockwise with ignition on, P is shown on position indicator? One click back shows reverse and two clicks back show neutral. Think you must have a lot more than 1 mm slop either way then. Put your other lever on and see what you get. With ignition on and XYZ lever in neutral and indicated. Place gear stick in neutral and adjust cable until it fits into lever.
