Everyday is a play day up there, it seems!
Wish we had somewhere like that here near Edinburgh too.
That really was good luck! ^^ she must of been unsure that the flat bed was either going to take her home or to the breakers yard for letting you down
Never had a problem with disconnecting the battery.Starter motor died in Plympton After abandoning for the day whilst working, I persevered for 5 minutes prior to calling the AA for recovery home. After a number of attempts where the starter mustered about a half turn, one of those half turns obviously coincided with a spark at the right moment and she fired! Somewhat astonished, I headed home where she now sits waiting arrival of new starter... Clearly she didn't want the humiliation of a flat-bed recovery - I like that ethos!
The next concern will be what happens when I have to disconnect the battery - will that be the start of a host of gremlins? Perhaps I should put her on bypass whilst the transplant is undertaken...

Get the EKA code or you will be in the sh@t if it does lock out. Make sure the disconnect is quick and clean. to prevent arcing.Nor have I, but that was pre-P38! I don't have diagnostics if anything decides not to work and there seems to be many threads on issues after a flat or disconnected battery that made me nervous... What if she reverts to a previous backup personality? Previous owner has seemingly amended a few things - e.g hazards and audible blip on alarm arm/disarm are off. I don't think I have the EKA code anywhere either, so if the alarm resets or throws a wobble I could be parked up a while! (I'll obviously leave unlocked and a door or tailgate open, but even so...)
In all seriousness, I probably will disconnect as socket extensions etc tend to touch things when undoing hard to access components!
Still awaiting starter motor delivery, so filling out a job application and then changing gearbox oil whilst I wait. Tried turning her over this morning and barely any movement, so clearly seizing and last nights resurrection was lucky/transient!
Upset it and went a baught a bucket to save the rangie having to tow or rack up so many miles or have to carry ladders
A rusty shed that looks like it will need the Rangy to pull it out of the mudThat's not a bucket...
...It's a shed.
