Does the special Washer only go on the upper ball joint? RAVE seems to suggest so.Just replaced passenger side drop link, came off easy enough but no special washer!! Obviously not seen when it was done last time not by me
It's gone on, can't be any worse than the old clanky one!!
Thank you. That's something for next weekend..No the Voss connector is the compressed air connector, you can change the damper separately but at that age, I'd suggest a complete assembly, particularly as you say the airbag isn't great - but I'd check it first to confirm.
The variable damping complete assembly isn't cheap, but the copy is much cheaper. You'll need camber & toe checking and adjusting, any change in camber will affect toe. The camber adjustment is the top mount bolt positions.
I'd check the prices before you light the fuze on the parts cannon....
Who knows!!Regardless of the longevity, will the copy perform as well as OEM?
And yes, do the checks, ideally the dampers also.
But they are 2 separate items.Could well be the oil has escaped from the damper into the suspension airbag, the easiest way to check is to remove the assembly and tip it up to see if any oil comes out of the Voss connection point.
I have seen/heard of so called compatible copies look the same but don’t have the ADS.The variable damping complete assembly isn't cheap, but the copy is much cheaper.
OEM/genuine £460+vat
Proevo+ £300+vat
Presume both sides the same price
I expect the copy won't last as long as OEM, but will i keep the car that long to care? Really doubt it.
My issue is time is also money, i can replace all in one go. If it solves the issue then all well and good. If it doesn't, (struts not leaking) well i need new bags before too long anyways and the struts can be kept for refurb/sold etc
Thanks.. looking on island they are advertised as active dampingI have seen/heard of so called compatible copies look the same but don’t have the ADS.
So you lose function and can’t plug the wire in the top, so be careful.

If the bag goes over the strut then the strut must leak into the bag?But they are 2 separate items.
The bag goes over the strut if the strut leaks the oil can’t get in the bag air side?
J
The whole thing goes over the strut, no connection of fluids possible from what I can see.If the bag goes over the strut then the strut must leak into the bag?
Not heard and this failure though I'm sure struts don't last forever
It does, the attached may help you visualise the assembly. But they are 2 separate items.
The bag goes over the strut if the strut leaks the oil can’t get in the bag air side?
