Try a cock ring?Mine goes off after a few mins. Not timed it though
My lighter sockets are permanently live. As is the little socket in the boot. Do you know if there Is there a solar powered trickle charger that doesn't need a mains charge? Oh and if so would it feed the battery via cigarette lighter. Some sort of one way system blocking the panel from drawing power from the car?More modern cars like the l322 have a switched live for the ciggy lighter so not much good
The cig lighters on all my cars only operate with the ignition on so no use for solar charging. Most of the cigarette lighter socket are wired into the battery via a fuse so they are permanently live. So yes, plug the 12volts from the charger into there. The other end goes into the mains. (just in case you really are thick as you make the claim to be )
A 20 watt solar panel and a charge controller is what you need, or maybe being so far north a 50 watt panel. I plug in via the trailer socket which is easier than an internal socket. There is no drain from the car to the panel. I have solar chargers for all my vehicles, they will not charge a flat battery but do keep the batteries nicely topped up. Panels and controllers are available for very little on AliExpess. My lighter sockets are permanently live. As is the little socket in the boot. Get a solar panel that has a regulated output, something north of 12.6VDC, you don't need to worry about the panel drawing power from the car as they are not capable of that.
The one I have is very similar to this. Amazon product
It's better to use the permanent live located behind the P38 left side trim panel for the trailer hook up, it's a proper fused supply and easily accessible. There is also a ground wire there too.Otto's lighter socket is definitely switched - '97 P38.
I linked in to the permanent live for the release in the lower tailgate and put an earth to a bolt back there for my trickle connection.
I found a 25w ok in summer for the wifes old Corsa but needed 50w in winter. The car was parked in the shade though where as @gold rover will have unobstruced views on her vast estate, and the butler can clear the snow off them in winterA 20 watt solar panel and a charge controller is what you need, or maybe being so far north a 50 watt panel. Edit, looking at the daylight hours in winter in Scotland, I think a 100 watt panel is needed to be effective all year round.
Looks good apart from the price.I'd go for something like this and change the ends to a cig lighter plug. Reviews are good too,

There is a cheaper one but no reviews and the panel is smaller. Plus by the time you've searched, ordered, payed for delivery from other suppliers £76 ain't too bad.Looks good apart from the price.

EDIT: and a few quid for the cig plug
I'm just a lazy git and don't mine paying a few extra quid for convenience. Perhaps that will change when I retire and have plenty of time on my hands.A good option for goldrover.
I tend to use Aliexpress or TEMU, being a poor pensioner time searching costs nothing and I have to count every penny!
Not bad for 100W panel with controller?Looks good apart from the price.

It links to this but for the extra few quid I'd go for a much bigger one. As said 30w in a scottish winter probably won't cut it. 100w should charge the battery as well, allbeit slowly. Thanks for answering. Unfortunately image/link won't show
Thank you so much for considering the butler. Sadly in these days of austerity we have reduced the estate to a mere 1000 hectares, so he has slightly less to oversee. You are indeed correct that the Golden Girl has unobstructed views. Which will work wonderfully with a solar panelI found a 25w ok in summer for the wifes old Corsa but needed 50w in winter.
