What did you do with your Range Rover today

Soooo, today I didn't do anything yet... But the plan is to do two things today amd over the week-end: replace the second temp senstive carb thingy (I'll be damned if I could remember the name of this without looking it up!), the easy bit. And, number two, the trickey bit of figuring out why the fuel pump isn't getting any.

Working theories: a blockage in the fuel lone between the reservoir and the pump or a blockage in the tank itself. Any ideas how I can get rid of number two when the tank is full amd the car in my drive way? Or can it be something else?

After breakfast, some workshop manual reading it is!

Have a nice week-end everyone!
Leave it overnight in a UK motorway service area and some beggar would soon siphon the fuel out for you.

Can you blow air from the engine back down into the tank?

That's test number one, I hope that's it. I assume the issue is either this or somewhere in the tank. The fuep pump is perfectly working, it is just not getting any fuel. Last time I opened the fuel cap, assuming it might be some pressure / vaccum issue, but no. We'll see this afternoon, I was search for the temp compesator this morning only to remember that I left in the car months ago...

Haha! Success! After blowing some air through the pump bavk to the tank, everything works like a charm!

Except the exhaust, which completly gone now... Well, the new one is the shed, so ordering some bits and pieces and my work for next week is set as well!
Contamination in the tank? If so, the problem will come back sooner or later.

I’ve taken the advice and told him to put the torch away. Picking up some penetrating fluid later from ScrewFix and will begin the soaking to see if that helps before drilling.

Straight through the MoT test although they noticed I had washed the oil off the pipe fittings.

Still trying to avoid those. MrGorsky reckons he tried Jubilee clips on his v8 and they blew off. I cannot believe there is that much pressure but you cannot argue with experience. Got another year to think about it now. Ideally I need a 16 mm compression fitting with a barb the other side but damned if I can find one.

The engine oil cooler lines on my race car held with no problems at 50psi. A smear of silicone mastic on a clean metal pipe will pretty much ensure that the pile will not come off.

Did an oil service and filters on the new (to me) 4.4 and it went through the MOT yesterday, usual advisories for subframe bushes that I will do on the rear and brake pipes while I'm there because that will come up soon enough if I don't. Got a friend coming to do the perished CV gaiters this afternoon which I found while fitting the new arm and ball joints the other day. To celebrate the MOT etc. I transferred my plate over and while I was doing that, I cleaned and paint corrected the lower tailgate. This thing is going to come up beautifully when I get to do the bodywork properly.
